Space Mountain Heading to the Scrap Heap :)

Although I gotta admit the end seamed really rushed. Since they started over with the pavilion they could have made it much grander and closed out the story differently, BUT right now it's no different then space mountains ending. IMO i think they should have had a quick service resturant ATLEAST, i mean in the 4 pavs over there, there isnt one, but yet across the way they have two pavilions that do things right. A kiddy C ticket like astro orbitor and some sort of sit and watch A ticket would have been the perfect touch, sadly they fell short.

Did you see the look of the pavilion? All of the pavilions in Future world have a unique shape and look. M:S is just a large rectangular building hidden by an oversized entrance planet. Horizons was FAR better. It combined the omnimover with an Omnimax presentation and a small scale simulator. It was also interactive. M:S is not even half the ride Horizons was.

are you refering to TSMM?

personally ive never seen MS at a carnaval, but if i did i would most def ride it. Just because it spins doesnt make it a carnaval ride, do you say the same thing about the mad hatters tea party, or the golden carousel? (whose ride systems could have been directly taken from a carnaval) Horizons had a story yes, but so does Mission Space and your failing to see that. Your just so blinded by your nastalsia for your previous ride that you fail to see the value in the new one. Maybe the ride isnt mediocre

In Horizons you sat in a ride vehical and moved around, same thing with nemo and friends (the reason why i said nemo and friends is b/c the vehicle system seams pretty close to alike to me, of course not the astetics, but just the vehicals and track).

Sit watch and hear a story is the past, sit, watch, and EXPERIENCE the story is the future.

I was referring to Mission Space, not TSMM... Like Jason says, it is a centrifuge, and majority of the carnivals have them... Has nothing to with nostalgia.. I am all for change... I am not one of those Disney fans that prefer old rides to new rides.. I am all for closing down rides and putting new rides in their place, IF they improve what was already there.. MS doesn't do that.. Like I said, Disney took a carnival ride, slapped on a short, pathetic movie on it, and called it MISSION SPACE... and people such as yourself say it's awesome cause Disney did it.. But, put this in Six Flags, or Universal even, and you all would sing a different tune...

The tea cups and carousell ARE carnival rides... Yes they are... But, I don't believe they replaced a ride that was truly Disney...

Have you ever seen a centrifuge at a carnival goodtimes? Almost all of them have one and that is exactly what M:S is. As for Nostalgia, I have never rode Horizons and I know that it is 100 times better than M:S.

Horizons was a fine ride... Too bad you missed it...

The only part of the pavilion I like is the planets OUTSIDE of the building... MS claims to be interactive... How?? Cause you press buttons that have no affect on the outcome of the ride??? At least on Horizons, when you selected the ending, it gave you what you selected... That's interactive... MS is a glorified centrifuge and Disney fans lap it up cause Disney slapped its name on it... Any other park would have been torn to shreds if they added such a ride..

Ah, thanks for filling in the blanks. Can't wait for the new system to be ready, even if it is a year from now and after SM's first phase of it's refurb. I hear the Haunted Mansion may be getting close to it's second phase of it's refurb.

Why does everyone think that HM is going to get some huge 2nd refurb? So far, I've only heard of it getting some new effects like HatBox.

Would that even mandate a closing? I was thinking 3rd shift...

Ohh, and goodtimes, in Snow White, you sit in a ride vehicle and move around... In Journey, you sit in a ride vehicle and move around.. In SSE, you sit in a ride vehicle and move around.. in HM you sit in a vehicle and move around.. Shall I continue??

in MS you sit in an eclosed tomb... and... wait for it.. YOU DON'T MOVE AROUND.. ok, you spin... but that's not really the same as moving through show scenes... So, I guesss MS is an awesome ride cause you don't sit in a vehicle and move around???

I was being a bit sarcastic. I've got to get better at using these :rolleyes::rolleyes:

But the hat box ghost, door face rumors seem plausible to me.

Sorry, but the more people talk about MS the more I can't wait to experience it again. Love that ride!

Completely agreed!

And yes, I really feel like I missed out on an extraordinary ride.

btw:  I remember getting into an argument about why I preferred Timekeeper over MILF which he apparently loves.

I didn't care much for Timekeeper.. MILF was ok the first two times I saw it... However, I fear this third time I will be completely bored with it...

I really think this might be part of a new strategy. A steady dose of major plussings every year at multible attractions.

A stead dose of half-hearted refubs only to say HEY LOOK WHAT WE TOOK 5 YEARS DO TO!!!!!!! WE ADDED SOMETHING WE SHOULD HAVE DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME..

KO, HM was done right the first time and anything new added will just be plussing an already great refurb... I'm talking the refurbs SINCE HM!!!!

Wouldn't mind it. In fact, it's how things are supposed to be. It's how they used to operate...

But this in place of one big refurb that fixes all the problems a attraction has? No...Then the steady plussing just seems like they HAVE to.
