Both the Florida Building Code and the EPCOT Building Code categorize renovations into three levels. In short, Level 1 is when you replace stuff like-for-like but are not reconfiguring spaces. New materials have to meet Code (eg. no replacing asbestos with asbestos) but you don’t have to do much else. Level 2 is when you start reconfiguring space, but only the areas of work have to meet current Code (eg. an old office building can knock down a wall to combine two office spaces into one and doesn’t have to redo the bathrooms). Level 3 is large scale renovations where everything in the building must be brought up to code. Under Florida Building Code this is when work covers over 50% of the building area and under EPCOT it is when a project exceeds 50% of the value of the project. Even then, exceptions can be made based on individual circumstances at the discretion of local authorities. Is it possibly something with being "grandfathered in" the same as the peoplemover whereas if they decide to renovate or replace parts of it, they'd have to adhere to updated code?
It's all a slow decline... by degrees.. They had anough time during this fix to redo the exit displays... They are terrible still. What a shame.
People, this is an exit. If this was a new Space Mountain ride queue, it would be completely underwhelming, and something to get angry about. And, I am definitely gonna miss the old moving walkway. But, the old moving walkway was barely operational for quite some time, and trudging up that thing at that incline was not fun. It looks like this exit serves its purpose-get the visitors moving towards their next in-park destination. I am under no delusions that there has been no decline in show quality at WDW, but any indignation has to be directed towards the areas that matter, and, to me at least, an attraction exit is not one of these areas.
I am laying it on pretty thick here, but by looking at the pictures there was concrete breaking to be done, an existing elevated moving walkway to be demoed, electrical demolition and new work, HVAC demolition and new work, new concrete, structural steel, paint, carpet, drywall and other miscellaneous work. On a normal commercial project, I would place the cost between $150,000 and $250,000. At Disney, I would double the cost. All for egress. How is that considered cheap? Is it because there isn’t a new animatronic there? It’s a tight space without the sizing to accommodate a themed exit, get over it.
Don’t be silly. You just belittle yourself.
You may not understand why people aren’t happy. That’s fine. But don’t presume to say they’re in the wrong.
Exactly. You disagree. That’s fine.No I am belittling the complainers, and it appears you are one of them. Look, it is an exit and quite honestly it looks a heck of a lot better than the old one.
I would spend more attention to the stench/mold issues at the the two communicore areas. I get it, there is trash containment in the basement.
My point is, of all the complaints out there about Disney, this one is merit less. It solved a problem and improved Let’s save the constant complaining for when they do real cheap things.
I agree. This reminds me of the exit to Soarin'.No I am belittling the complainers, and it appears you are one of them. Look, it is an exit and quite honestly it looks a heck of a lot better than the old one.

Come on, dude. Stating that opinion is not fact is too much logic for some on this forum. And when someone uses logic to back up their statement, other people attack them for it. At least, I've been in that situation, but I'm pretty sure it's happened to you multiple times.Exactly. You disagree. That’s fine.
But don’t post opinion as fact.
What problem(s) did it solve? The code issues you won’t cite?No I am belittling the complainers, and it appears you are one of them. Look, it is an exit and quite honestly it looks a heck of a lot better than the old one.

We’re not laughing.

Fixed with a single long ramp that is advised against. You also said it was a safety issue, and accessibility and life safety are usually considered separate.Should we start with the 1” per 1’ rise on an ADA damp?
This is the issue though, belittling anyone is not okay. I would just like to ask you to take a step back and avoid the condescending intentions. You can disagree with, and even be not a fan of negativite opinions on the board without belittling anyone. No I am belittling the complainers,

Let's do a "Beer Math" word problem on this.
If it cost $400k for the new walkway.
And you devote the revenue from beer sold at Skipper Canteen and BoG ($9/beer.)
It is a total of about 50,000 beers (taking into account the cost of the beer.)
To pay for this in one month they would need to sell 1,666 beers a day.
On a 30%/70% split between Skipper and BoG, that means 500/1166 respectively/day.
So, very doable and very short payoff.
Behold, the power of beer.
This slope moved people up it without any work. What do you think rolling backwards down a slope too high, or the cost of exertion for getting up the slope is? Clearly, you are not thinking.
