News Space Mountain exit being worked on

But if some.of the atmosphere is lost and the courtesy of a few minute walk just.to get.to the gift shop is lost, than it is not an exit at a Disney Theme Park.

So, in terms of cost, I will not pretend to know the numbers but even an expensive rennkvatuon can be cost saving if maintenence was bad. An investment.

At the end of the project it is the impact that matters. Which in this case a severe downgrade in atmosphere and courtesy.

No its your safety that matters and it wasn’t a cheap replacement. Counties have rules and regulations for egress and when renovations occur they must be addressed. Sorry but some of the original park exits aren’t that great either. What happened here is that something was changed.

I like the vibe but hope they add laser FX because those are Tomorrow -y.

My only real complaint are the light fixtures. There very nice but aren't they off the shelf purchases?

An E-Ticket should have all custom designed elements. By actual craftspeople and artists. IMO.

This isn't the worst exit they have... some our just dumps to concrete areas that look backstage.
I doubt it was intentional but the blandness will be good about keeping traffic moving. If there was something there or even selfie spots then its a super slow or even stopped exit which can quickly back up.
Remember we are in the day of no courtesy, and everything is a good selfie.

Since it's an exit, maybe they don't want you to hang around? I can think of other attractions with long exits that aren't very exciting:
  • TSMM (with the creation of TSL, now you just have a long winding path to get back into TSL
  • Soarin (long carpeted hallway back into The Land pavilion)
  • M:S
  • FEA (okay maybe not that long but a hallway that you leads you to, surpise!, the gift shop)
  • POTC
  • ST
  • SplM
  • Safari (Foliage. Lots of foliage)
  • FOP
  • DINOSAUR
When you think about it, none of these exits has anything worth hanging around to see. They want you to progress out of the attraction as people are coming up behind you.

Guess what you are also a day closer to dying too, sorry.

You keep apologizing? Confusing. Don't apologize unless you are unsure of opinion. Guests are customers and complain. They pay to have experiences. Your post comes off oddly defensive as if personally attacked.

Actually, taking a second look at it, it is even more costly than my first take. I guess the board here really thinks construction is done with Scrooge McDuck going to his moneybin and tinker bell flying around with a hammer.

I also agree that it has a very clean Soarin’ look.

Take a step back. No need to insult other members. Even if you disagree with them.
Walkway changing expensively can still have low cost atmospheric touches. Not everyone is saying the changes were cheap.

Which life safety aspect of the previous exit was in violation of the EPCOT Building Code, Florida Fire Prevention Code, Florida Building Code or any other applicable code? What about the project disqualified it from being a Level 1 renovation?

Is it possibly something with being "grandfathered in" the same as the peoplemover whereas if they decide to renovate or replace parts of it, they'd have to adhere to updated code?

I dont think that would be feasible...it already has a great entrance that does not need replacing...Though I do wish it were still like the original entrance with the educational Space Portals and the living sound of the future...

Maybe not in the near future. I am just wondering if there is a bigger plan and vision in place.

No not attacked, just can’t believe how ridiculous this thread is and I am actually killing time at a project walkthrough. One that isn’t life safety.

It’s not like they put turnstyles to get through main street. When Disney deserves to get killed for doing something cheap than by all means pursue it. But this one is a joke.

My brother loved the monitors at the end, a shame they're gone, but otherwise this looks fine. Would have been nice if they did another show scene or something other than a hotel/airport corridor in the switchback section.

I think people are referring to the lack of additional monies devoted to the project that could have led to a greater experience. Not necessarily the dollar cost involved. No construction at Disney is ever inexpensive but that's not to say the money couldn't have been better spent or that a greater budget would have led to a better outcome.

Cheap = poor value for given $
Inexpensive = low $ figure regardless

People, this is an exit. If this was a new Space Mountain ride queue, it would be completely underwhelming, and something to get angry about. And, I am definitely gonna miss the old moving walkway. But, the old moving walkway was barely operational for quite some time, and trudging up that thing at that incline was not fun. It looks like this exit serves its purpose-get the visitors moving towards their next in-park destination. I am under no delusions that there has been no decline in show quality at WDW, but any indignation has to be directed towards the areas that matter, and, to me at least, an attraction exit is not one of these areas.
