Space Mountain.....Down for ALL of 2008?

I'll be shortly making plans for a September 08 trip back to the World and I've been hearing (or reading) in various places that Space Mountain will be down for pretty much all of 2008 and into 2009 for a massive rehab or updating. Has that actually been verified anywhere? I'd hate for that to be true.....riding SM to start my day each day of my trip is part of my routine, that would really hurt.

No dates have been announced yet, so, so far you are safe. This refurb sounds like it is going to be huge, so it may be hard to make a trip around it.

Not sure how accurate this is, but last week one of the Tomorrowland CMs was saying that Space Mountain will close around June 1, 2008 for the refurbishment, which should take about one year.

From what I keep hearing from multiple places though is that this refurb will most likely take place at some point next year. It will last anywhere from 9 to 12 months (at least) and various different things could be happening. (not sure exactly what they will be doing.) I have a feeling though that it probably will be closed in Sept. 08, especially since I haven't heard any different yet.

They will be adding touch screens and basically it will be made into a giant version of the virtual roller coaster thing thay have at disney quest...:ROFLOL:

I'm hoping for a September 2008 trip as well! Small world, huh?

I am willing to bet that Space Mountain will be down after the summer rush, and will open in time for the 2009 summer rush.

Which means I'll be back in September 2009 as well!

Well, the refurb isn't finished yet, so I guess we will have to wait until it is actually finished, I think it is pretty obvious that there will be some major changes to the finale before the official opening. I just wish people would understand this point rather than saying how the entire thing was a waste of time, money, and other things when the refurb is still going on.

I can see it now.... How was Space Mountain.. It was great but they only have about two thirds of the track done so the ending is kind of rough.. You land on inflated planets
