What's awful about it? I thought it was a nice blast from the past since until recently, the last time I was on SM was before 2009.

$4 billion for EPCOT
Space Mountain ins the only "great ride" at WDW that I feel Like I'm Murtaugh, aka "I'm too old for this s***. haha. It just hurts my back. I finally got to ride DLR's Space Mountain and it's so much better. I prefer the seating on DLR's and the experience. Now if they could fix MK's SM to not give you chiropractic adjustments each time, I'd love to ride it again.

Hopefully they allot a substantial and lengthy refurb instead of the 10 day or less jokes they've been pulling (and cancelling). Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are supposed to get $350 million each of the $3.5 billion DHS project. I don't know what all is being planned besides a possible Carousel of Progress overhaul mentioned by Martin recently, but it would be nice to see Space get a cut of that. The ride is a painful joke at the moment and has been for years. It needs a complete rebuild, as they originally intended 6 years ago. Things have gotten so much worse though and I don't even know whether a year is enough time (at least for Disney's slow speed, a more reasonably swift company could get it done in that time).

With Big Thunder going under a 3 month rehab next year (likely getting Disneyland's upgrades), Space Mountain will be one of the last remaining rides requiring immediate lengthy downtime (besides Peter Pan and Carousel of Progress, though Space is actually in the most dire shape).

The $350m for MK is obviously for a new A-A figure in Hall of Presidents in 2017.
