Space Mountain closing for short refurbishment in January 2016

Well, Phil is going to DHS, so there won't be anything there. Epcot never refurbishes anything. And DAK, as we all know, can't refurbish anything until AVATAR opens. Primeval Whirl is getting a spit-clean, though. It isn't expected that any guests will notice it's closed, though.

I haven't ridden this one since its 2010 refurb. Its just not the same and not worth the wait outside of a fastpass.

Bulldoze it and put in the Disneyland Paris version 
though it will just be a repeat of the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter fiasco with people complaining it is too intense for kids lol

That's why a set of Gerstlauer Infinities or Eurofighters would be so perfect.
They're small enough to fit and intertwine, but you could have one be much more intense (and invert!) than the other,
That way not only would the attraction cater to a wide range of guests, it would have built in re-ridability.
They use multiple moving cars, just like the current system, and they're much quieter too.

Space Mountain with the lights on. I believe those yellow marking were locations of bolts to be replaced or we welded. Someone please enlighten us on that?

Just enough time for them to:
#1 - Remove the annoying safety spiel that ruins the classic sound track when you enter the ride queue. (for some reason this really annoyed me, there is not even a section in the ride where you can hear that classic music without the narrative)
#2 - Boost up the starry o phonic music so you can actually hear it !

Here's another shot from this past fall during lights-on/ride-stop Space and ride-stop on Peoplemover...like what are the chances...
The sad thing is my photo is 2009. Yours is five years later. And still nothing has been done aside from trim brakes.
