They just released the schedule through August on Tuesday. As of yesterday, airfare roundtrip for 5 of us was $1,337. I couldn't book until tomorrow. Today, it's up to $1,667.

Pricks.

Wow $139/one way from Buffalo!!! That's nuts. I sure hope the only reason they're that high is because it's summer and the kids are out of school (lots of people take vacation). Fingers crossed, come fall, they are more reasonable.

Dont order tickets yet. They fluctuate rapidly throughout the year. Its wild, i dont know how it happens. Its like playin the stock market haha. Our tickets for this december were like 120 going down and 110 coming home (per person). We looked at it every day, one day the same flights came down to 80 down and 90 home. So we called and they credited us. It makes no sense how they do it at all. But just keep an eye on it throught the months.. Those prices will drop for those flights. Guaranteed

I thought about that. I thought maybe I'd just buy a $1,000 gift card so I had the funds put aside, but going in July, I'm afraid the flights might sell out if I hold off.

$153 from Providence!
We could fly Delta, and even with baggage fees, it'd be $300 less. I hate Delta though. They're always changing their itineraries.

I will never understand the philosophy of our economy. In a recession, and airfare is higher than it has been in 5 years. Wouldn't you think they'd lower prices in order to get people to fly? There's always all this talk about how the people need to get out and spend money to get the economy working again. Kind of hard to do when things are more expensive than ever.

The airlines are beholden to the price of jet fuel. Notice how the price of gas and heating oil has gone up considerably lately? Jet fuel goes right up there too. Why isn't the price of gas - that is now $3.00 here in RI - in the forefront of the news this year? Last year it was, plus the swine flu.

I'd drive and stay over a night back and forth - that's ridiculous.

My new thing is if I don't need to cross the ocean, I drive - the airport is nothing but a hassle.

Until the gas problem gets "fixed", this economy will never get back on track. Gas is behind everything we do.

I thought about it, but from Massachusetts, it's a LONG drive, especially with 3 kids. I drove to Virginia once and almost went out of my mind.:hammer:

Ah yes, 3 kids in the car for that period of time could be interesting. The drive itself isn't bad though and if you have a comfortable car it could be fun. However, if your kids are the type that ask "are we there yet" while in the car for 10 minutes, I wouldn't advise it.

 Yeah, that can be annoying! But we ALWAYS make our long trips at night. That way the kids are up maybe for an hour or two then go to sleep. The trip is nice and quiet and there's hardly any traffic. Of course if you have trouble staying awake I definitely wouldnt advise it.

Yeah and I thought the drive to Myrtle Beach with 2 kids was bad from RI, I can't imagine what it would be like to Disney! Granted the kids were'nt horrible, but I get it...In a car on and off for 14 hrs...Yeah there is no amount of playing their DS's and watching dvd's (granted they even have their own DVD player so they can watch what they want) and taking stops..After a while they've had enough....!! But it is true prices will come down and yes you have to watch every day ..Even try in the Morn and then at nite...Thats how we ened up with a $400. credit from last August...We originally paid $1,200 for our family of 4..Yeah that was sickening ...but it did come down to $800...That was much better!...Watch and wait..all you can do!

Seriously - just wait on the prices. I get Southwest sale emails and every time they have lowered the cost on some flight or another. For our trip next month we were originally paying around $330 per person, which seemed reasonable given we're flying down around New Years. I checked back when sales came out and we've reduced our per person cost to around $200. Southwest lets you rebook for free but they only credit you the cost of the savings towards a future flight. Unless you're planning on flying again soon, I'd just wait until you see a reasonable flight cost then book.

Oh definalty agreed there..We usually leave at like 2:00 in the morning, the kids think its great!!! They "hopefully" by the time we reach Pennsylvania their out for a little!...We ususally go with other family members as well so sometimes we can even trade the kids in another car..But we do advise who ever comes with us, that we'll be playing some kind of Disney music in the car whether its from the park , movies you name it!! Hay something has to get us thrugh the drive!

We usually leave around 8 or 9 'o clock so by 10 or so they are sleep, and we just drive as much as we can-stopping here and there for little rests.

Try looking/buying the same time during the week as you did when your tried before. Usually, and from some travel sites and my own experience, the best time to buy is monday-wednesday and then on thursday..BOING...they go up...

Looked in December(13-16th) 74 dollars each was from Chicago-Midway and then on thursday it was $139.00..Then back down to $109 on friday because of a "SALE"....
