Sorcery in the Sky- How many versions?

Exapansion. :fork::lol: They can make it happen.

One idea I've always had is to relocate Pixar Place to the other side of the TSM building (yes I know there's no way in hell it would be done with today's managment, but I can dream can't I?) where the old costume department is now so there can be more space for more Pixar related attractions and less crowd control during fireworks. Plus the old Pixar Place street can be used as a backstage area and extra staging for the fireworks.

Another idea I've had is to relocate animation plaza directly south of the animation building yet just north of the new Pixar Place. Once again, room for more attractions and less crowd control for fallout. It would require some tearing down of some buildings (and I know TDO would faint at the idea) but I think it could work.

Michael, I like your idea for the premier thing. I remember seeing yet another old MGM promotional thing from a planning video showing a bunch of women dressed in white old fashioned premier dresses dancing in front of the GMR. Maybe it could have somthing like that also?

Sadly a regular show probably will never happen again; SitS needed the whole area south west of what is now Mermaid (and animation?) all the way to Star Tours cleared and closed due to shell fallout. A massive crowd control effort that the park today just couldn`t handle.

In effect squeezing all guests into Hollywood, Sunset and the Hub.
Where were the launch locations for SITS? I know a lot of the low-level pyro came from the structure next to the Mickey inflation platform, but what about the high-level pyro? Along those lines, would it be possible to use the LMAX stadium for a new high-level launch area? Or would it be too close to World Drive? I have a few painful memories of shutting down World Drive for the Grad Nite fireworks this past summer.

How soon?
I've heard that it had a 10 year lifespan.

Very drastic, huh?

I just want them to expand in general. Basically make the areas that WOULD close inconsequential so that they COULD close.
Sooner than when I was first told about it ;)
:sohappy:

All behind and near the theater, I think. (Animation Ct. and that area)

Realllyyyyy??!

So, by the time ST2 is here, will the hat be gone by then?

And is the icon the water tower?

It was, back in the day.

Theater is the weenie.

The low levels came from behind the Chinese Theater tower on a small secondary tower next to the Mickey tower (mainly fluffy stuff), 3 pads on the roof of the GMR show building, the Studio 4 building, what was Post Production (north of S4) and the roof of the second Walt Disney Theatre.

High level stuff was launched from a compound just north of Catastrophe Canyon in the parking lot.

I really dont think DHS expansion is possible. It is boxed in by Oscelola Parkway,World Drive and the parking lot. Sice expansion is not possible, sadly I see no other way to have a full-scale fireworks show whithout the whole park being a fallout zone.

Of course it is; I thought you`d been party to those discussions?

Sunset Pads
Tram tour area
Parking lot / behind Indy

What does make it harder is back in the day, New York St was tram only (no walking), Mickey Avenue (Pixar Place) was backstage and there was no LMA or MV area. As one by one these opened to guests the push to drive everyone to the front of the park got harder and harder. Unless as you say there is extra room to push everyone nothing will happen.

Plus back in the day DMGM was showing SITS to a capacity crowd of low tens of thousands. What happens today, even with expansion, if a 21st century capacity crowd all want to watch the show? They can`t from Sunset or behind Indy. Hollywood Blvd and the hub is just too small. That`s why they built the HWH Ampitheatre. Which is a whole other topic.

DL's version of Fantasmic! is sooo much better, (more live action sequences, Peter Pan scene, Ursula scene, new dragon, Flotsam and Jetsam, more imaginative soundtrack like the pink elephant scene) WDW's is basically an advertisement for the latter Disney films of the mid-late 1990's. Too many villains, too much screen time, crappy backdrop compared to DL and you bascially have to devote hours to see the WDW version where you can just walk up to the DL version and easily find a good view. I unfortunately do not remember seeing SitS though it sounds like it was a wonderful show.

Martin-yes I have been part of those disscussions. Those pads really wouldn't provide the sizable expansion I'd imagine would be needed for a large show.

Call me crazy, I hate the Pink Elephant and Pinocchio scene and I love our music mashup! Something about it is really catchy. I wish we had some action going to it on stage or something though. And didn't we at one time have an Ursula Barge?

And I've never been to DL, but I've heard you have to wait 2 maybe 3 hours for a nice Fireworks spot there... so I can't imagine their F! is a walk-up.

I'm all ears, Martin. This is certainly the thread for it, seeing that it killed SitS.

BTW...DO you think it possible for them to do ANY "Over the Icon" Pyro show for this park at all?
