Sorcerers, Spies and Superbowl Adventures - A February Trip Report

This trip began a very long time ago. In fact, over 15 months ago, I assumed that this trip would be our first trip back to WDW in over a year. But that hasn't been the case! Never the less - we were super excited to join my husband in Orlando for a conference Feb. 6 - 11. The reservations were made for the Beach Club (conference rate.) My husband's ticket was purchased for Tuesday and we were all set........ or so I thought.

Two weeks ago, my husband called and said he wanted to go to an additional 'meeting' in Orlando on Tuesday - the day he was supposed to arrive. He said we should all just drive down together on Friday.........so that he could go to the meeting on Tuesday...........hmmmmmmmmmmm.......... a meeting he 'had' to go to..... that we 'had' to arrive 3 days early for...... sounds like someone figured out they'd get more park time by arriving early! :D So we booked the Caribbean Beach at a great rate and added on a few more nights.

Friday, we left home, stopping overnight in Georgia. On Saturday, we pulled onto Disney property promptly at 3 pm. We only had time to check in quickly and throw our bags into the room, before we had to rush off to my son's 4:30 haircut appointment at the Barbershop in the MK!

Hey! I know that place:

We were getting ready to walk out the door when my daughter spilled a bottle of water on her outfit. She insisted she HAD to change clothes, so I told my husband and son to head on to the bus stop without us and to get on the first MK bus. I told them we'd be right behind them.

They were right on time to their appointment, but sadly, I missed the whole thing. :( It took my daughter and I a good hour to catch up with them with the whole outfit changing, waiting for the bus, etc.

(Pictures of haircut to come - all are on my husbands phone at this time.)

It was a perfect evening in the MK though, so who can be sad???

Great end to the report! It would have been tough for me to leave, knowing I didn't have a plane to catch, just a drive home.

Your photos of MK are beautiful, especially ones in Adventureland, I think I just realized after looking at your pictures that it is my favorite land in the MK.

Thanks for taking us all along with you!!! When's the next one??? :D

Loved the TR! My daughters were sitting here "reading" along and kept insisting I backtrack to all of the pics with the plush on the bed. I fully expect them to sneak a few extra into their bags next trip. That's awesome that you guys were able to have a kid free night. We're contemplating it for next trip if we have the energy. That's amazing that she lost her tooth in Fantasyland! Of all the places! Loved that the Tooth Fairy talked to Tink. So sweet! I think you've also sold me on BC for our next warm weather trip. Looked great! :D

After the Brer Fox/ Bear message repeated about a dozen times, someone finally came over the loudspeaker, but only to tell everyone to sit down. This became a problem. It wasn't happening in 'our' show scene, but someone, somewhere kept standing up, causing 'confusion and delay' as my son once would have told you. :D

You must have/had a Thomas the Tank Engine fan! I know that quote well!

Your report is really great! Isn't it fun taking spending time with your kids alone while on vacation? On our last trip, my husband had to stay home an extra day unexpectedly for work, so I took our 3 down by myself for a day. I was kind of nervous about it, but it ended up being one of my favorite memories of that trip!

Thanks so much for sharing your vacation!

Ha Ha Ha! See this is why I love the boards, we're one in the same when it comes to our Disney vacations!

Yes, this is the trip we were suppose to be cruising, but we cancelled the cruise portion last week! We decided that we rather do an extending trip to Disney as opposed to breaking it up between the cruise. So now we will be spending 9 glorious days at the Wilderness Lodge! Can't wait!!!

Yes! We all understand one another. Ha!

Sort of sad you 'had' to cancel your cruise portion. I say 'sort of' because I'm not a cruise person, so if I had it my way, I'd have canceled a cruise part of my trip too :D But sad because I am glad I got to experience a Disney Cruise at least once. I will say that I'd never go on any cruise line other than Disney that's for sure!

9 days sounds amazing! I can't wait for that TR. I bet your little man has grown a ton since the last trip! Mine is already up to my shoulders. I keep wondering how long it will be before he towers over me in the pictures.

I hope you have a great trip!

Thank you! I actually love to drive. I grew up driving everywhere, but my poor husband doesn't agree. He never drove anywhere growing up, they always flew, so 6 hours is usually his max driving time. That's why I usually drive down by myself with the kids and he flies in to meet us. :D I was worried about him both driving down and back up with us, but he did great - I think the trip was just long enough for us to 'recover' in between car times.

I love Adventureland too! But I think Fantasyland (even with - or especially with - all the new stuff) will always have my heart.

The next one? Well, we learned this year to never say never, but aside from a day trip or two from the beach over Spring Break in late March, I don't think we'll be back for almost a year. We have some good friends going next February, and we've already kicked around the idea of joining up with them for a day or two. But I'm almost 100% sure we will be there October of 2013 with my entire family. They're all ready to go back, but they want to be sure all of Fantasyland is open. Soooo excited for those trips already!

Thank you for reading!!!

Ha! Gotta love those plush! The kids free night was great and since this was such a long trip, I didn't feel like they were missing anything in the parks which was nice.

I couldn't believe she lost her tooth in Fantasyland either! What are the chances??? Beach Club is amazing. If you ever stay there, I bet you will love it! Thanks for reading!

Yes! Thomas! We had trains and tracks and accessories galore. Sadly, now the trains have made way for the legos and we're much too grown up for Thomas anymore.

It really is so fun to be with them alone. I miss my husband terribly - and it's much easier when he's there- but it's a totally different type of park experience without him. But 3! That's impressive! I'm not sure if I could do it with 3, that takes a lot of organization! :D

Thank you! Thanks for reading!

Such a wonderful report!

I loved the quantity of stuffed animals on your beds! Hilarious!

The giraffe story was so funny. I bet everyone thought it was hilarious.

How great that you took an evening alone! I'm sorry you weren't crazy about the food. We’ve left our kids in the club in the Grand Californian before and they begged to go back. They absolutely loved it!

I loved it all, thanks for sharing!

Glad he was good with it!!! :) Not sure if I'd make the 24 hour drive to WDW from MA, after getting used to 3 hour flights I would be itching to get to there. lol

Fantasyland is definitely going to be awesome once it's done!!!

:( Awww no trips soon? I guess I'll have to wait for another awesome trip report! Those trips will be here before you know it though! :)

Oh those stuffed animals! They are my daughter's very favorite thing I'm afraid - even though they drive me batty. But I just keep telling myself it's not forever. By the time she's 16, I assume she'll be down to quite a few less on the packing list (like 10?)

That giraffe story was a great memory! I think the people in front of us thought it was hilarious and the people behind us were just as convinced that the giraffe was going to eat them (AND just as relieved that we didn't have to get up close and personal with a giraffe head. :D)

It was sooooo nice to have an evening alone! Those kids clubs are awesome. Sort of reminded me of the ones on the cruise. That food thing was entirely my fault and totally expected. It still baffles everyone in my family how I could grow up vacationing on the Gulf and never develop a taste for seafood. But I was so glad my husband got to try Flying Fish. We'll be back so he can eat there again for sure! And maybe next time I'll be in the mood for the pork or the steak. :)

Thank you so much for reading!!! Hope to read about your March adventures soon! (hint, hint, hint.....:D)

cute dress!

Thank you so very much!

Yes! Flying is really the way to go - much faster that way.

Those trips will be here so soon - I can't believe it's already the THIRD month of 2012! Yikes! You'll just have to hold up the Trip Report end of things until we can get back! :D:wave:

So sad it's already over, but what a wonderful ending to your trip! :)

Thank you! And again, thank you so much for reading!
