Trip Report Sometimes going halfway is a good thing - Max's Hong Kong Adventure

Hello All and welcome to another Max Trip Report
IMG_6282.JPG

This one is solo - sans family - as it was a quick stop at a new park for me
Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) opened in 2005 and has slowly been growing into itself
Initial feedback on HKDL was too small and not enough to do.
As you will see in this brief stop I had plenty to do (and actually did not accomplish everything I wanted to do)

Who: Max , aka Clarence to those who read my Cali report recently.
What: HKDL for a day and a bit
When: Friday Oct 6and Saturday Oct 7
Why: A Disney park I have not been to AND my company was sending me back to Japan so I detoured at the start of the business trip to catch this gem of a park.

Up next: Intercontinental travel !!

Loving the updates and - Shanghai! Can't wait for that
You will have a wait abit
I am still in Japan until Sat Dec 9 ( a little more than 3 weeks away from home)
And I need to finish up this trip!!
I am having an @Tuvalu moment!!

I would probably prefer the side by side seating of Hyperspace Mountain. The single seat ships have always freaked me out a little.
The side by side seating is much better in my opinion
Try to get out to California - Space Mountain is much smoother and has a great soundtrack that adds to the experience.

its a Small World after all ( this is so true when you travel the globe to visit Disney parks and see this ride!)

HKDL was the first part to integrate Disney characters into small world
California followed but based on my observation HKDL did it better
Picture quality is not the best but I think you will get the gist of each one
Enjoy!!

Thanks for the tag! I'm late...this real life thing is REALLY getting in the way lately. Would it be really bad if I said I can't wait to see the back of 2017??
So apparently @Tuvalu missed the date mistake...did she jump on you for "aloud" vs. "allowed"? (I'm still a bit new in the TR pages...I know Em is a teacher, but is Tuvalu a teacher, too?)
Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing an impression of what another international Disney park is like. You've been to DLP, haven't you? How did it compare?

More room pics
I have read that this hotel has been open since 2005 and is in need of refurb
I was fine with the look of the room for my short stay

This cute little tin case was in the bathroom
I ended up getting 2 of them

And the shampoo and conditioner were appropriately themed as well

It sure looks way nicer than our room in DLP. But I think you are staying in a deluxe? We were in a moderate, but it looked so run down.

Both Tokyo and Japan have something like this
A large display outside of the entrance to the park
An obvious picture taking magnet
I am trying to equate it to the NA parks
Perhaps the old CALIFORNIA letters outside of DCA?
I cannot remember if Paris had something similar
@Laurenciaa or @Songbird76 might be able to help me out
Yes, there is a statue at DLP and a fountain.

Yes I have been to DLP back in 2011
DLP reminds me more of Toyko Disney in terms of size and style ( covered Main street and land layout)
Hong Kong is a lot closer to the original in California
But I think you are staying in a deluxe? We were in a moderate, but it looked so run down.
I place the Hollywood hotel in the moderate category in terms of room size and comfort.
The Disneyland hotel is the deluxe on property hotel.

Yes, there is a statue at DLP and a fountain.
Nice pics - thanks for sharing
Wow!! This looks SO much like the fairytale forest in the Efteling park in the Netherlands!!
It is similar but much smaller than the fairytales forest in the Efteling.
I have not been there so I will trust your judgements on this one!

Love that you met up with your daughters friend. I hate that wdw small world doesn't have the Disney characters.

It was a fun time with J
I think the characters blend in with iasw but some diagree
Different strokes

Have fun on your upcoming trip!

I was a bit behind and bombarded you with likes but I'm all caught up. Love the addition of Disney Characters to IASW.
Glad that you are along for the ride and all caught up
I am having a difficult time being able to add more content but I hope to get more next week
I am doing an excursion to Osaka this eeekend so I will try to keep up with other trip reports but mine will wait till I am back
The small world characters add to the ride - plus it up- in my opinion

Ooh, Osaka! What’s your plan for there? I recommend going to the Doronburi area at nighttime to see the neon and try all the street food. If you’re going to Universal, by all means get the Express Pass!

Just to show you some of the similarities...the book that tells the story, the Rapunzel tower, though there's no Flynn, as that's a Disney thing, and the interactive statue thing...this donkey poops golden coins. And there was also a ride with those trackless vehicles, called Symbolica. It almost makes me want to go there, just to see how similar it is to Efteling!! Almost...but I really have no desire to go to China, nor to be on a flight that long.
