I've always loved Carousel of Progress and I still do...as a concept...however I would rather see it closed than see it in the current condition of the animatronics and audio and sets. Not to mention that they're still talking about car phones and laser discs.

The condition of the show today isn't as bad as just a few years ago, new preshow tvs were insalled, some minor new details have been noticed in some of the scenes, a new poster at the entrance, and last time I saw the show (September 2008) all the AAs were working fine. As for the dialogue I think you may be too picky...

i htink he has a point. the ride is so outdated for the last scene. laser disks, voice activated machines, and virtual reality? Those were fun ideas in the beggining of the 90's but this is a new time. This ride should be constantly updated with the times(like innoventions) just like Walt wanted. It's time for a heck of a last scene change or just do away with it altogether; lots of good space(no pun intended) for a new ride which MK needs bad

I will have to agree COP can never go. It's a classic that must stay! I can only imagine then backlash from fans if they ever announced it's closure. I can't wait to be there again one day and be singing along with it.... And yes I will join in the "chain gang".

CoP is much to charming to be replaced. A very innovative attraction for it's day. Now it harkens back to a much simpler time for the world. It makes me smile, and remember when.

Ahh so its proposed but not built... I think there should be a Museum in Disneyland and at the Walt Disney World Resort.

It opens this year (it's essentially finished) so it is way beyond the blue sky stage at this point.

WDW has "One Man's Dream" which is essentially a museum at DHS. They keep going back and forth as to if they will add "The Walt Disney Story" to DCA. I hope they do because it fits the park concept so well. I think these 3 quality museums might be enough to cover the vast scope of his life.

I would only chain myself to CoP if the outside rotated too. Now that would be a fun protest!

What if it rotated and squished all of the protestor's?

Also, if Disney wanted to really mess with the chained people they could speed up the spinning. Imagine it, COP:Orange.

I think we should change the name of this post to the "if disney gets rid of any of the attractions we mentioned we will revolt.....and it will not be pretty"

That's the problem with COP and its "future" scene. Every 2 years things become outdated, and they'd need to update the script and the ride becomes a liability. IMO, they should make the Christmas scene one about technology in the 80's, then have the very last scene be about Walt's EPCOT project. You could move the model to COP and maybe show a clip of the last "Wonderful World of Disney" show where Walt explains his vision for EPCOT. It'd be a nice way to never have to worry about updating the ride again (aside from a few cosmetic things every few years), and still have guests leave the attraction with a sense of hope for the future.
