That's the problem with COP and its "future" scene. Every 2 years things become outdated, and they'd need to update the script and the ride becomes a liability. IMO, they should make the Christmas scene one about technology in the 80's, then have the very last scene be about Walt's EPCOT project. You could move the model to COP and maybe show a clip of the last "Wonderful World of Disney" show where Walt explains his vision for EPCOT. It'd be a nice way to never have to worry about updating the ride again (aside from a few cosmetic things every few years), and still have guests leave the attraction with a sense of hope for the future.

I like this. Of course I'd rather they leave the Epcot model where it is and build a new one for the CoP that is bigger and has plenty of fiber optic goodness. :)

CoP is much to charming to be replaced. A very innovative attraction for it's day. Now it harkens back to a much simpler time for the world. It makes me smile, and remember when.

The attraction could be just as relevant today IF it weren't so dated.

You can't redo this thing once every 15-20 years.

This needs a major rehab at least every 6-7 years and a minor one in between.

The point of the thing is really timeless ... but keeping dated scenes aren't.

Of course, WDW Ops wanted this gone since the start of this decade, so just still having it instead of a 60-second thrill ride or another Stitch or Buzz attraction is a small victory for the good guys.

I like the idea of an 80s scene and the Epcot thing in the end.

However, here's what I would do:

1890s (Spring 1899, like the original show)
1920s (1927 to be exact, same as is now)
1950s (Or 1961 or 1962, Postwar America of some kind)
1990s (Christmas or New Years Eve 1999 to be exact, without the Y2K crap, to give a feeling of completion for the 20th century, include references to 70s, and 80s too)

Then the ending would involve the curtain rising to reveal a vast lit from behind partially animated mural of EPCOT (the real EPCOT) with this narration:

"But what will this century bring? Walt once dreamed that this would be the future. Beautiful isn't it? A true utopia of peace, harmony and achievement. But even he knew that progress takes alot of people brave enough to take a chance to build on a dream. I bet if young folks today are willing to do that, then maybe there can be a great big beautiful tomorrow for us..."

Or something to that effect.

However, judging by what tweaking that has gone on, it's likely that Acts 1, 2 and 3 will stay the same and just act 4 will be changed in 2010 (as the rumor goes).

Yeah. In the ninties scene you could have a line like, "Well, we sure have come a long way from laser discs and car phones!" or somthing like that.
