I know we the disney nuts here pretty much understand each other and our love for that magical place ...disney...But its unbelievable to me how some people are underly disgusted by the whole thing....For my 30th bday which is in feb, my husband surprised me by booking us a mini weekend vacation in disney...He surprised me christmas morning while we were watching the disney parade...so I was yes beside myself...well he would have waited closer to the day we were leaving, but I work in a salon ..so clients needed to be moved around...well and I know I'm not the only one..but i'm at the point that some people I just don't tell them that we're going cause you get that (and you guys know that "look") and the uhh why again...so anyway I had to move people around one woman who is a witch gave me such an attitude..."why there", and "oh excuse me a long weekend " and "your bringing the kids? why bother"? and then when I went out of my way to give her an appointment she's say well guess "i have no choice"...and me the nice guy said "well sorry my husband surprise vacation is such an inconvience to you"..and may I say this is a woman who usually "forgets" and appointment...ugghh...sorry instead of saying wow that is great , good for you ...nope I get attitude..yes we go to disney at least once a year the past couple its been twice...my kids are at the age that I can't imagine not taking them with us on vacation...plus I'd like to take for as long as they want to come with us....there will be plenty us time when we're older to do disney alone:cry: ....but anyway sorry to vent..but some people are such inconsiderate morons....please ..if any of those non-disney people ever came to this site..which i'm sure they have..they'd surely think we're all a bunch of nuts!!!:hammer: so what there could be worse things.....yes i love disneyworld with such a passion....it makes me happy...plan and simple...
:) :)

We all have different interests. Subsequently, people love to vacation in different places. I think it's important to realize that no matter how crazy it may seem, a lot of people think WDW is just not a fun place to go...

Life's too short to worry about what other people think. Besides, that's one less person I have to wait in line behind.

sounds like that one woman wouldn't be happy no matter where you told her you were going or what you did.

Have a great trip and don't worry about the people who don't get Disney.

Just thank your lucky stars you are not and enjoy life to the full. If going to disney that many times makes your family's life complete then dont worry about it... Your family comes first and what makes yoiur life tick!!

If I could afford it I would go that many times... my family just laugh now cos I am that much of a fanatic.

Enjoy time and time again!!!!
I cant get there now until Christmas 2007, I understand about the kids you want to take them with you and why not Disney?

I totally understand. I too get "the look" usually from family members too. It is frustrating. I just started saying I'm going to Florida, so I don't have to hear the lip. Oh well I always have fun so that's all that matters.

Have a GREAT weekend trip with your hubby!

People can be so rude! She probably would have acted that way if you told her you were going to Paris. You have a great time on your trip, don't let the people who are always miserable in their life get to you :D

I agree that the real issue here isn't that she doesn't share your passion for Disney (honestly, as much as I enjoy it, I find a little Disney goes a long way sometimes), but just her overt rudeness in criticizing your personal plans. Don't let it get to you and enjoy yourself.

You didn't mention what kind of salon you work at, but if you're a hairdresser, I think you should add a little "hidden Mickey" to her next "doo"!

What a wonderful gift, great guy.
Go to Disney, enjoy your family and mini vacation.
Next time your near this person who tried to ruin it, just be careful...someone might drop a house on her and from the way she acts it's not for the red shoes!

we went in sept and dec -- on the second trip -- we didn't tell anybody where we went -- just said "taking a few days off". Was nicer both before the trip and after -- to many harassing questions and rude comments.. May never share vacation plans again --

sometimes it's easier being a closet disney lover

My wife & I (both close to 50) went to Disney in December for a 5 day weekend. Told our kids (in thier 20's) and employers but didn't tell our parents. Both sets life out of state. Both mothers called our cell phones looking for us on day 3 of trip. We got caught. It didn't ruin our trip but wife & both laughed about it.

We go a least twice a year. (I've been 3 times in 2005). Each time without the kids. have a great time & already planning the next trip for May. 2nd time will probably be in October. Who go every weekend end but 1,000 miles each way is just to hard.

Sometimes people have been to WDW and don't like it for whatever reason, but many times these people haven't even been there and have no idea what it is like. Some people equate it to a single 'Six Flags' type park, since they have no clue. Don't worry about it.

On the other hand, new people are discovering it and getting hooked all the time. A guy that works in the same office as myself just went in september with his wife and little boy for the first time ever. He came back jazzed about it and his wife is already planning their next trip! He kept bringing up little things that he saw here and there (didn't mention chipped paint :)), and kept saying how awesome it was.

Either way, rude people suck. Just take a tip from Mr. T and pity the fools and put it behind you. :)

I really understand where you come from. My manager at work gave the that look when I asked for two weeks off for our vacation. He said "you went there twice last year, why are you going again.?". I just looked at him and went on. It's funny because he goes to Boulder twice a year to go snow skiing and he has been doing that for twenty years now, the same thing I do only that it's a different place.

Boy can't agree more with this..

We try to go every year at least once. And I have to laugh at my wife, because after the trip it is like, let go somewhere else for our vacation, but after 4 or 5 months, she is counting the days to we go back. WDW is all about your additute towards it. Some go in and think it is just a simple amusement park, but it is so much more. For example this last time, we took my MotherInLaw(MIL), because she watches my kids during the week so it was kinda a bonus for her. And only after two days, she said did not realize that all this was there, and she has been to WDW several times in the past.

And the dining... Some of the best dining I have had has been in WDW, which seems to be more and more one of the most talked about topics when we are planning a trip.

I have actually started this with just about everything in life. Too Many people, too little time to be bothered with giving them details. Put them all on a "Need to Know" basis, and you would be suprised at how few people really Need to know.

I hate the look! :fork:

Go as often as you can and enjoy it!
As far as taking your kids, you are absolutely right in taking them now while they still want to go with you. You'll have plenty of time in the future for trips without them. Cherish this time with them! It passes too quickly! :lookaroun

I totally know what you mean about "the look"

There's this one lady at work who was like "I just don't understand why you go there all the time" and I countered with "I don't understand why you go to Vegas all the time" (which she does... multiple times a year)

And does your client not realize that you are human? You need breaks and vacations just like the rest of us? I'm sure she's never been on a vacation in her whole life.
