Well I guess you missed the sarcasm. Are there any Canadian brands in the us that aren't dying and well known?

Im trying to figure out what happened with Roots, during my time there the merchandise selection from them went down to nothing. The shop seems to be featuring merch from fruits of passion now. I still think a gallery would be best, it wouldnt require extra posistions to be covered by cast, and Im sure the govt of canada has spare stuff they could send down to display, someone just has to get the ball rolling...

Well how full is the hotel, if there is room, they can place a gallery in there.

I hear Mike Holmes is flying in to "Make it Right, eh"

Ha ha! Seriously, I would queue up to see this! :lookaroun

I was watching the Canadian show of Bizarre Foods, and he went to a place that took fresh maple syrup on a stick, & rolled it in some snow, then you eat it. That might be something "cool" and unique to eat in Canada.
I know Id try it!

I always thought Canada should have a QS location with a different food featured from every province/territory. Newfoundland would be toutons (plain or with molasses, of course)! :D

I think the whole point of the O Canada attraction is for Canada to shed the whole Lumberjack, Mountie, Igloo stereotype. Granted, those things do exist in Canada, but I don't think that's what they want to solely be known for. I doubt they'd want a lumberjack ride.

Actually, I'd be ok with any ride... even if it is a little sterotypical. I don't think you can make a ride for Canada without it being sterotypical. Canada (like the US) is such a big country that focusing on any one aspect is going to leave out a large part of the rest of the country.

What is sad is the movie... they actually leave out Newfoundland. A whole province not even represented!

Why is the movie sad? Every province and territory except for 2 territories are in the film. Don't quote me, but from what I understand however, the provinces have as much footage as they contributed towards making the new film. When you go to the film, you'll always notice the Cast Member say "on behalf of Walt Disney World AND the Canadian Tourism Commission".

As for rides? I believe that defeats the purpose to the World Showcase. I don't believe Canada needs any ride. As much as I like the Mexico & Norway boat rides, I learn nothing about modern-day Mexico or Norway that would want to make me travel there. Epcot and the World Showcase is more of a learning/experience area and shouldn't be looked at as a place you go for "rides, rides and more rides" in my own personal opinion.

As for the refurbishment? We'll wait and see! ;)

It would be better than martin shorts' reject reel.

I thought the Yukon and Northwest Territories were in the film!?! Anyways, the reason I find it sad is b/c my province is left out!

Well, if the content came from individual provincial tourisms groups then I find it hard to believe why there isn't anything there on NL. We have a pretty aggresive tourism campaign as of late. Our government has bought advertising time on CBC, CTV, the Discovery Network, the History Channel, BBC Canada, TSN and others. In fact our tourism videos have been voted the best.

Concerning rides in WS, while I agree with you to a certain extent... if the rides attract more people into a pavilion... then more people get to see that pavilion!

Paint...for four months...something tells me their is more to this than just paint. Maybe we will surprised.

It's not just paint. They will be doing re-roofing also. It will be like a general refurb. Remember how China and Japan were? A lot of scaffolding to do painting, roofing, lighting, and general touch up work. I hope they put up a nice scrim.

So I just found out the rest of the information. Are you ready for it? Here it is: the entire upper area of the Canada pavilion will be blocked off until mid December...for painting. Yep, that's it. :(

They are walls. No big deal. We've all seen them before.
I was really getting my hopes up for something new. The upper level has never really had anything that is a draw to guests. The last thing I remember was a store with high priced crystal which was a waste of space and the sales must have been horrible because I never saw people in the store let alone buying anything. This area is a huge waste of space!

Does anyone know of the roof is actual copper, or if its just painted? In older pictures the roof was brown, then in newer it turned green, was that natural with age, or was it just painted that way?

I think that the problem with the whole area in question is that it was very charming, but not lucrative. There was a shop at one time that centered on Ann of Green Gables. My daughter loved the story, and consequently the shop, but there was nothing sold within that warranted the prices. The Canada pavilion is a very charming place, but the things for sale are often not practical.
