Some love for Canada finally?

I would like the idea of a Canada counter service, but they are not going to put it way up out of the way. The only reason that the bakery works in Paris is because there is the shop and Impressions that draws you to the back of that pavilion. The only thing pulling you back to the upper level in Canada is a view of the simulated Canadian Rockies (which I enjoy, but not everyone will go back there for it.). Most all other counter service is "street level" or in the direct path to high traffic areas.

I assure you the only reason I go into "downtown France" is for the Bakery. If you build it, they will come. I think having shops and restaurants tucked away is cool. Anything tucked into the canadian pavilion or any other for that matter would be welcome.

So I just found out the rest of the information. Are you ready for it? Here it is: the entire upper area of the Canada pavilion will be blocked off until mid December...for painting. Yep, that's it. :(

But I'm sure it will be a pretty color of paint.....:roll eyes:

How utterly underwhelming.

Well, this Canada news is just proof for all the critics out there that D23 isn't the only place where really really big projects take off.....:lookaroun

You call a paint job a "really big project"? Wow.:dazzle:

It's nice to see some basic maintenance around the place, but that's hardly anything to get excited about (unless it were something major like the Yeti being fixed or whatever). But that's what we've basically been conditioned to get excited for. Anytime any basic touch up happens, people get all giddy.

Uh - tongue in cheek....?

Japan is up and out of the way and every time that we go up there we have to wait in a line for it.

well thats disappointing. There must be some business in Canada that could help fill that shop up with their merchandise! A food location was looked at that spot as well, but it isnt quite big enough to hold all thhe equipment that would be needed, so I was told. Cmon, even if they just threw some canadian artwork in there and had it opened as a gallery, at least there would be something!

Agreed. The painting is going to take longer because they are doing the entire hotel. I grabbed all this info from one of the monitors in a breakroom.

Mid-December? Definitely an extensive paint job then. Just wish it was a little something else....:(

Thanks Raven. It's fun to see actual CM insider info.

Canada is the one pavilion I pretty much skip every visit. A new paint job on the Hotel Frontenac isn't going to make me go up there and stare at it. Pretty much wasted space.

It's too bad there isn't something new going in up there. What a boring ______ pavilion. I'm always kind of embarrassed. A Beavertail's or Timmy's or something.

They do need something, agreed! We did have beavertails, but the supplier in Canada couldnt keep the stock coming to us fast enough, so they ended that. Timmies is a no go because of Disneys contract with Nescafé. Like I mentioned earlier, even if they just threw in some artwork and left it open like some of the exhibits in other countries. Im sure there is something they can work out. this will become my goal during my next contract, haha Ill see what I can do.:king:

Walls went up overnight last night on the upper level of the Canada pavilion. The entire level is blocked off and you can only enter the theatre from the bridge area in the back.

Does anyone that has access to work permits have any information on this? I'd love to see those stores come back as that whole upper area has been a desert for years.

Sorry no pictures, but all Disney construction walls pretty much look the same.

Are they going to be adding a hockey rink or maybe a lumberjack demonstration?
