Actually, they provide paper straws.

When the poster posted that (in Sept 2007), they had not yet started to offer the paper straws. I believe that started toward the end of 2007. Until that point, they had never had straws available in the park since it opened.

Some more Disney "did you knows":

1. Napkins at the Animal Kingdom are made from the recycled waste product of the park's animals?
2. The "it's a small world" attraction runs all night after park close? Since the dolls exhale helium, park staff attach Mickey and Minnie balloons to the dolls to inflate the balloons for the next day's guests.
3. The Imagineer behind Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is in real life a misanthrope? Before being banned from speaking to the press, he remarked that the people of the world "can bite him" and "invent their own flippin' evening show celebrating the miserable cretins of the world" if they don't like the attraction.

I've certainly heard that before.

Did you know that in pirates of the caribbean (in disney world) that most people think the right line queue is for fast pass but its not! :hammer:Me my and my family did it every time we rode it last summer, they never told us we couldnt go that way or anything it has a lot of twist and turns in it too, its fun.

That's a very fun encounter.. :) I will avoid the right line queue there..

in animal kingdom they dont sell straws or balloons!!

same goes for the animal kingdom lodge.

this is because they can cause harm to the animals.

and yet there is no regard for the wild animals around the other three parks.... (squirrels, birds, etc..), ie: the ones that are most likely to end up being hurt by that trash

Disney has set aside many acres as an animal preserve.

It's certainly no fault of Disney's if these animals don't know where to go to stay safe! :p

... that Splash Mountain is an extended flashback sequence with Br'er Frog taking the place of Uncle Remus?

When we first meet him, he's dozing off in a rocking chair, and his grandchildren ask him to tell them the story of Br'er Rabbit. He begins by saying it was "back when everything was satisfactional...." The very first AA character we meet is then Br'er Frog, only now much younger and greener.
How cool!

Reading this thread has made me very disappointed by the attitude of some on here, if you feel this thread is beneath you and you know all the facts, don't make some stupid comment just to increase your post count. :zipit:

For those who have made sensible comments, I am sorry you have to read this.

Did you know that actually you are not dropped but pulled down in TOT.Faster then gravity's pull.

i did not know that!

Did you know that the flags atop several of the buildings on Main Street USA are not real American Flags - they are lighting rods with flags that do not have 50 starts on them - so they do not need to be taken in at night or during inclement weather.

clever!

Did you know??

In EE, the yeti's name is Hershel.

Parts of Captain Nemo's organ were used to build the Main Street Fire Station.

You cannot sell gum on Disney property.

Is this really true? I never looked for gum.. I am a gum addict but I always buy lots of packs before I leave Chicago to take with me.

Or, more acurately, people have yet to learn the proper usage of bins and drop their rubbish on the floor.

I will give Disney credit on this score, they keep those parks very clean and free of dropped rubbish!

Did you know that I haven't been to Disney since September 2007 and I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms that will last until October 2009!

Haunted Mansions

Did you know that Disneyland in California changes their Haunted Mansion every year for the Halloween/Christmas season? They add "Nightmare Before Christmas" decorations, and hidden Oogie Boogies throughout the ride!
(I was bummed when I found out they didn't do it here in MK Florida)

Is the one about It's A Small World true?
