Having just returned from a seven day solo trip staying at the Polynesian Resort I have to say that even though I have done DisneyWorld three times in the past {81,86,07} with friends or family and always had a great time, this trip is the best one by far,I have gone where I want when I want,I have met great people ranging from bus drivers from Chicago,to Deputy Sheriff's.I just wanted to say to anyone thinking of doing a solo trip "go for it,you wont be sorry" .Has anyone else had similar experiences??

Very cool! I've often wondered what it'd be like to go solo. I've never been without family of some sort. I wonder would I be too weirder out by not having someone to talk to. Lol!

I was in Florida visiting family in Oct of 08 and had one day left, all my family was in work or school and left me home alone, so I made my way over to WDW and went to AK because I had never been to that park before. I had a great time, but I'm kind of a shy and quiet person, so I really think it would have been more fun for me if I had someone with me.

I did a solo trip in December 09 and really had a wonderful time. I ate where and what I wanted, stayed out late, slept in, took my time and watched the Street Performers in their entirety at the Studios, took a Tour, all the things that are hard to do in a group. However, I will say by the 3rd day, I did miss having someone to talk over the day with. Not quite the same feeling sharing your adventures over the phone every night.

That being said, I am glad I did it, and would probably do it again just not for 6 days.

I just wanted to say to anyone thinking of doing a solo trip "go for it, you wont be sorry".

Thanks, Shaun39. I am so glad to hear this. I am going on my first solo trip in December. I love traveling alone, but I have never been to WDW alone. It is nice to hear that someone enjoyed it.

I have visited WDW solo the past three years (2007-09) and just returned from a solo trip to Anaheim / Disneyland / Knott's Berry Farm.

Although I have visited Orlando with family and friends in the past growing up, it's an interesting experience visiting WDW, Universal and SeaWorld by yourself. Just like you, I set my own agenda and turned it completely around on a moment's notice just because I could. My only two constraints -- getting to the airport to leave for Orlando and vice-versa to leave for home.

Looking forward to another solo trip to either Orlando or Anaheim in the next year or two, but would not mind switching things up and traveling with a friend.

Congratulations!!!

As of August 2010, I have taken THREE solo trips!!! I am addicted to them. WDW is the only place that I enjoy solo because there is no one to slow me down. Everything is on my time and I get to enjoy the people and talk to CMs. I say, everyone should try it at least once. Yes, it does get lonely sometimes (mainly at table service resturants) but depending on the server, it can be wonderful!!!

My next solo trip is in 5 weeks!!!!!!

Re solo trip

I found that if I ate at a table service restaurant cast members would seat me with my back to the entrance so that I wasnt so conscience of eating alone.I used The Magical Express to get to The Polynesian Resort and then back to Orlando Airport. The best thing about traveling alone is that you meet and chat to lots of people,I overheard a family on the bus returning from DTD to my resort about going to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party,I got speaking to them and decided to go myself. These are the kind of things that make solo traveling worth it.Im planning on returning to Orlando in 2012,and will probably go solo again.

I have done days by myself as part of a larger trip. And I agree, they are all sorts of fun. From being able to just wander and take pictures of stupid little stuff, to doing all the rides I want, as many times as I want, and seeing any character I want to, it's a different way to see the world. Some times I have gone very slow, spent half a day in the MK without doing any rides. Other days I have hit all 4 parks by 3 PM, hitting E tickets and characters in each. To anyone who is considering it, go for it!

Thanks for the info I always wondered about going solo.

DW and DS can't agree on when to go, where to stay or even if they really want to got back to WDW. Balsphemy I say! I may just have to do a solo trip.

solo trips are surprisingly fun

Yes SHAUN39, I have had similar good experiences with my solo trips. I had gone many, many times before with company, but have really enjoyed the solo visits. I felt a great deal of freedom to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I could cover a ton of ground without anything slowing me down or, alternatively, could really slow down and soak in all of the atmosphere.

Dining solo was not a problem for me - I only had one somewhat awkward experience (oddly enough, caused by a cast member, not other guests) and otherwise loved it. With the exception of my dinner reservations, I could eat wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted - so that was great!

I have a solo Food & Wine Festival trip coming up in 22 days with several special Festival ('hard-ticket') events planned, as well as a few Signature dining meals (Cali. & Jiko). I'm really looking forward to it!

I had some business that wrapped up on a Friday afternoon and it was just as easy for me to fly home the next day, so I took my camera and spent a day at what was then the Disney MGM Studios park.

It was a fun time, taking photos of things that interested me and taking in all the atmosphere of the Hollywood Tower Hotel and some other attractions, all at my own pace and not feeling like I was holding anyone else up by doing what I wanted.

It isn't something I'd care to do often, but it was a whole lot of fun.

So glad to see this. I have been solo on cruises but I haven't been back to WDW since 2008 ! I would love to go for the Christmas decorations :xmas: but was thinking it would get lonely to go at Christmas time by myself. I think I will look into it for 2011

I'm starting to think it's possible I've spent more days in the park alone than with family just over the past 3 years I've been going to school up here. It is far more enjoyable, especially for someone who is pretty introverted such as myself. You can spend a whole day just exploring all the resorts and still have plenty left to do.

Think again. December is a great time to go. My third solo trip was in December 2009, and with the mix of WDW, Universal and SeaWorld, I was on holiday overload with all of the decorations -- but no snow, except for the fake soapy snow. In a matter of a few days I experienced 19 degrees and snow and then 85 degrees and no snow / fake snow.

Go visit Orlando in December. You'll love it.

Back in '01, I did a solo trip. For the entire 12 days I was there, I was "Adventure-man"! I went parasailing from the Contemporary, took some laps around the WDW Speedway at 120MPH, volunteered for every show at the Studios, opened the parks and closed Pleasure Island. Best pre-family trip ever! And, still somehow managed to put 1200 miles on a rental car. "Just Do It"
