SOFT OPENING WATCH - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster

This has to be the most bizarre ride opening procedure I've seen from Disney. Media event with no opening date set?

Although, what can we expect, they bumbled the opening of the entirety of New Fantasyland, so why not this, too. They get poor reviews from people for opening in unimpressive phases with large, ugly construction zones along the way, so the cherry on top of all of this is to disenfranchise paying by letting the all-important news reporters see the ride before the hapless park guests paying $99/day?

Never has it been so clear that TDO feels it better to cater to the media and mommy bloggers over actual, paying guests.

You know what's funny?
Hasn't there always been media previews since like Disneyland? Not sure what all the fuss is about them seeing it before the public.

From what is being reported. It seems at first they were having issues with getting multiple trains running at the same time. But more recently, I have heard that the timing of the ride with the figures is slightly off.

ThemeParkInsider also wrote about it:

There is no question that we have not seen continual cycles of multiple trains. They have always been singles, and not 5 trains all running at the same time which is what they will need to get the capacity right on this.

Which is something that soft openings would be perfect for, no?

The Media event isn't just for 7DMT. It's for all of their summer stuff, like the Memorial Day event, MyMagic+, and yes, the Mine Train, but that part is just listed as a preview. They will probably say when the ride will open some point this weekend.

It's not so much them bumbling this as you looking for something to complain about.

At this point, I would expect the media event to use just 1 train for the press to ride. I say this, because they haven't tested or trained CMs to work with more than 1, as far as I've seen. After the media event is over, and the press is gone, I would expect to start seeing some testing with 2 trains and working up from there until they have validated and adequately trained everyone to work with multiple trains. Once the training is "certified", they should then start soft openings. At the least, I'm guessing 1 week but likely 2 from the media event before we see soft openings, with the "official opening" late May as has been stated by several others.
Keep in mind, testing isn't just about running the trains and getting everyone trained on multiples, its also about start up, safety, ride evacs and shut down procedures. All of these things take time.

Apparently the SOP is being written on the fly right now.
I don't follow. Was this in response to my post? I was just speculating on what I thought the sequence of events and timing might be. If I'm wrong or way off base, I would be more than gracious to hear what the actual sequence might be.

SOP = Standard Operating Procedure (Manual) is being fleshed out still...

Meanwhile.. I doubt the Media will ride anything right now.. The weather here is quite intense at the moment.. I've got hail in my front yard right now. For reference, I'm about a mile or so from MK.
