SOFT OPENING WATCH - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster

The communication over the intercom does not seem like something standard OPS department would use. It seems to be just a bit more technical and something probably said by a WDI or mechanical engineer IMO.

But maybe I just have a false impression of assuming a cast member would just yell, "Get off the tracks!"
No... It sounds like completely normal Ops intercom talk to me.. I worked on Test Track for a bit and just sounds like the same old intercom blabber to me. We had to do it every single morning before the ride opened. We'd get fired if we just yelled "Get off the tracks!" they're strict about safety critical positions.

As I said there, I wonder whether the issues they're having are related to the ride vehicles, or perhaps the facial projection for the dwarfs if the yeti comments are hinting at something...

No, I know .. It's all good ;)

Meanwhile, keep in mind Test Track was technically in T&A for nearly 18 months ;)

and no, it's not having those kinda issues... :)

Whew, thank you. I was just beginning to get somewhat excited for this ride. I don't expect another "Tower of Terror", but nobody wants another Yeti disaster either. Fingers crossed...

Some things to keep in mind: we soft open rides when we feel they are ready. Not on a specific date, not based on ops or WDI or anyone else's specific timeline, regardless of whatever pressure from various departments or management. The soft opening is a joint decision between the project lead producer (who has final say) and the higher management within Operations who have to deal with staffing and crowd management issues. We have a master schedule we try to stick to for an attraction build and opening. But we do run into problems along the way, and there are always adjustments. With a new attraction - and this is one that's considered technically complex, even if it doesn't seem that way - there are always things to adjust. Just be patient. Soft openings are always when still in the hands of WDI, so that we can make adjustments based on the way guests ride the attraction and how the attractions work under normal load conditions for longer spans of time. Even if you don't see them, Ops is there too, training behind the scenes. The media preview is on its own schedule - media has to schedule to be there well in advance, so that will go regardless of whether or not the ride is soft opened or not. We can run the attraction if it's good to go, or if there are issues still be worked out, we can have multiple back-up options to work around any glitches and still put on a good show for the media. (Hint: if we're still getting it up and running and working out tech issues, that's why they go with "Dedication" instead of "Grand opening". ;))

From all signs, it's getting close to being ready, but it will be open when it's deemed safe and a proper show for guests, which could be this week or next month. Nothing worse than getting to ride the platypus encounter and there's no platypuses because it's not ready yet.
