While the two versions might rate the same as standalone choices in a survey, I would be willing to bet that if you had a group of people selected to experience both back to back (having half experience CA first and half experience The World first) and then take a survey comparing the two, that CA would come out on top by a wide margin.
You may well be right. Were I a betting man, I would guess that it would be a much tighter race than that.

I'm just going to repost this in case anyone missed this But, Flyover America attraction is How Soarin Should really be..Almost a 10 minute ride, with smells and swoops throughout and there's only CGI until the finale..

Rick Rothschild, director of Soarin’ Over California, has been a creative director for FlyOver Attractions, including their Canada, America and Iceland films.

I must say, I rode Soarin around the world on its last day and now California today I'm the same seat.

I had not previously ridden California. It's so much better. I had the widest smile for the entire ride, and immediately wanted to go again (never with world). This version feels more enveloping compared to world. The scenery and action feels far more involved.

Maybe it was the theater? World was B, Cali was A. I'm pretty sure they are identical, but this felt both closer, more involved, and exciting.

The theatres are Concourses 1, 2 and 3, and they're all the same. The hang-glider seating blocks are A, B and C. A and C are definitely inferior to B. B is more head-on, and as long as you're seated near the centre then the picture is as good as it's going to be and it will feel more engaging and almost 3D.

Yeah got them mixed up. I sat front and center for both rides, concourse 1 yesterday and concourse 2 for world.

I knew they were identical but was trying to find excuses as to why this version felt so much better.

Listen to On the Road Again and see if you still say that…
????

One, two, a one, two, three, four
On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way
And our way
Is on the road again
I just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends

And our way
Is on the road again

And I can't wait to get on the road again

Road Soarin' today. Last time I've been on the California version was probably about over a decade ago at DCA (when it was under heavy construction). Barely remember it, but was quite surprised with this version today.

The cuts weren't too bad. They jumped along with the music, which I thought fit. Only part that was ehh was the LA traffic as it was too janky. Love the orange smells tho! 🍊
Could care less what version is playing as I always think it's a pleasant ride overall. Maybe rotate the versions throughout the year or offer both versions in separate theaters or something.

Also the ride was quoted a 85 mins wait today (9/30) at 4pm, but only waited 20 mins. In and out in about ~25 mins. There was a huge lightning lane backlog, so maybe they were accounting for that.
