SOARIN' could have been done better

While Florida is very much consistent in terms of landscape, there are some landmarks and such that they could use to fly over.

7 mile bridge
Cape Canaveral
Miami
Everglades......but that might be pretty boring, since the whole state looks like that
Citrus Farms

It might just be better to do a Soarin that goes around the world. It could fit in with the International Showcase so close by.

Soarin Over California originally caught me off guard in Anaheim when I first rode it. I had no idea what the ride was going to be like and I loved it. However, I have learned that if you hype the ride too much, it simply doesn't deliver. I have taken numerous people on it at Epcot, and most walk off saying it was cool but nothing special.

I personally love Soarin'. Sure it would be neat to have a few different videos and you could choose which to see at any visit or something of the like, but it is unlike any other attraction in WDW, or any other park I can think of for that matter- and it caters to families.

Its not supposed to be compared to ToT and RnR for a 'thrill' ride type effect. That is not the idea here. Its annoying how many people believe that if an attraction/ride is not a 'thrill' ride it is worthless (no one in particular here, just a general statement). It is a very unique type of attraction, and, I guess like any other thing if life, you either like it or you don't. To each his own. But I have heard nothing but good things when I have come off the ride each and every time- in fact, people often applause once the video is complete.

Cape Canaveral with the Space Shuttle taking off, that would be fun and exciting!

First off, I enjoy Soarin, but would never do it if I had to wait more than 30 minutes for it. Thankfully we have always just went and got a FP fist thing. I don't think the line area is too small, its supposed to be one of the longest at WDW. I do think the attraction needs at least double capacity, but thats not gonna happen anytime soon. I also like Patrick Warburton's opening movie, hes a funny guy, awesome as Joe Swanson on Family Guy.

During the Undiscovered Future World tour, Robert our guide gave us a little background on Soarin. The Land was chosen as a tie in with the ride's natural theme and because they wanted a replacement for the Food Rocks show. He said that they expected it to be popular, but had no idea just how popular it would become. Apparently the California ride is well attended, but nowhere near the draw that the Florida show is.

He said that had they known what a draw it would be, a separate building would have likely been built. Mostly because Soarin totally decimates any hope for peaceful pedestrian flow through the pavillion. Folks run in, go down the wrong stairs and then wait to get a FP, while others wait around because they came back too early to use it.

Soarin' is my absolute favorite ride at any park. It is truly imaginative and definitely unique.

I get by the seeing-the-feet thing by imagining I'm on a huge hang-gliding device with lots of other people, and those feet are just others on the glider with me.

It literally brings tears to my eyes every single time I ride it, and every time I listen to the sound track on the CD I bought.

It is really nothing like anything else I have ever experienced in my life.

Having said that, the queue area definitely needs some attention. The first area upstairs is too prone to people trying to squeeze around you trying to get ahead. It is WAY too wide. They need to install switchbacks or somthing to prevent people from pushing ahead of you.

The little questions along the way are useless, since if you stop to participate in that, people pass you right by.

And the area after that is way too industrial as other posters have said.

The attraction is great IMO, but come on, Disney parks are famous for their theming, and that is sorely lacking in this case.

It's a bit better with some of the improvements that they have made since it opened, but it's not there yet.

I think Soarin was a tremendous idea when it came to DL but now that it is in WDW I just get the feeling "why are we watching a film about California?" I think it is a good C ticket ride, but the film quality of recent has become such a distraction it takes away from the ride experience to the point I ride it once a trip and only if I can get FP. As stated previously, go digital or atleast clean up the dust. There is no way I would wait in the monsterous stand by lines. But again this is only my two cents.

BLASPHEMY! Soarin' is one of the best rides in WDW and I feel that every detail was planned perfectly (I can smell the oranges now)!:)

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Disney rule of thumb: If the Fast Passes are all gone by noon, the ride is just fine.
Even if the ride sucked (purely hypothetically), all Disney cares about is the fact that people go to Epcot just to ride the thing.
