This Earthquake attraction should replace Fast & Furious: Supercharged at UOR. ASAP
Okay, I've always had Lightning Rod on my radar but I never realized just how much of a terrain coaster the thing is. My god, this makes Iron Rattler look like a parking lot coaster by comparison. I'm beyond stoked! Plus I actually think my grandma will enjoy it since it doesn't emphasize inversions and she's actually a big fan of air time.
Yea, I prefer solo trips just for the freedom of being able to stay up until god knows how late doing whatever, but grandma and I have been doing a lot of stuff in the past five years. Two different Orlando trips as well as a ton of formative Disneyland trips in my early to mid teen years. She's a HUGE fan of Ghostrider at Knott's so I'm always looking for thrill coasters of that style that I can actually get her on. She'll try pretty much anything without a ton of inversions at least once. I hold getting her on Mako as a badge of honor. Not gonna lie, the fact that she pays for airfare, hotel, and most of the big meals is definitely a big perk hahaWOW!!!! That thing is a MONSTER!!!!
Also it’s so damn wholesome that your grandma goes to amusement parks with you!!
That’s so amazing!!! It’s really wonderful that you have such a cool relationship like that. I can relate, my paternal grandparents started taking me on WDW trips when I was old enough to breathe and have been ever since. It’s a place that entire side of my family has been fortunate enough to be raised on, and I’m still as head over heels in love with it as I was all those years ago.Yea, I prefer solo trips just for the freedom of being able to stay up until god knows how late doing whatever, but grandma and I have been doing a lot of stuff in the past five years. Do all four attractions have to be from the same park? It’s extremely straight forward this time! I wanna know your top four favorite opening day attractions from ANY Disney park!! The rules are simple, if it was existing and operational on the park’s opening day, IT COUNTS!!
Cap. Read the very next sentence.Do all four attractions have to be from the same park?
Lol, my bad. I totally misread the prompt too. But there ya go, there's my Epcot Top Four for anyone curiousCap. Read the very next sentence.
Whoops.Cap. Read the very next sentence.
I LOVE Frozen Ever After. It wasn’t opening day, but I do love it!!!Epcot is such a tricky park for me. Some of my favorite WDW memories ever are there, specifically solo drinking around the world and spending another whole day sampling food and entertainment around the World Showcase without going on any rides. I think even beyond Animal Kingdom the World Showcase itself might be my favorite "experience" of the four Florida parks and I can really just get lost in it. That being said, I pretty much just forget that Future World exists half the time haha. I'd put most of those attractions in the "fine" category, even the fan favorites.
Spaceship Earth - HUGE bucket list attraction for me, and still wonderful with the AAs, but doesn't crack my top four just because of how JANK that entire last section is. I'd be tempted to marathon the thing Mansion style if it weren't for how boring that downhill part is.
The Seas - Cool dark ride, cool aquarium, absolutely nothing earth shattering about either of them.
The Land - I love the first half of Living with the Land but find the greenhouse section to be sort of boring especially because I just really don't like the "industrial" look of the place within a Disney park. Soarin' has genuinely turned into my favorite Future World ride in spite of being a previous hater of it just because I've tended to luck out with very reasonable wait times especially compared to DCA.
Figment - I feel like I don't dislike this as much as most people do and yet even I'm so off-put by the skunk gag that actively cover my nose, and that's the sort of personal space intrusion I just don't need on a Disney attraction haha.
Test Track - Basically a cool but cheap looking adreneline rush with some of the most heavy handed corporate sponsorship I've seen in a modern day Disney attraction.
Mission Space - Actually very much enjoy this more than most as a thrill junkie and think the ride system is super cool...but yea, this is still not great though one of the attractions I'll be most likely to actually hit.
So with that my real top four is...
4. The American Adventure - A bit long in the tooth, but the sheer scale of the presentation and vast amount of AAs will never go under-appreciated by me even if I do prefer the more intimate Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland. As @monkey92514 can attest to though, I've learned in my later years to NEVER do this thing on a lack of sleep haha.
3. Frozen Ever After - I've grown into a huge fan of this thing. It's modern Disney dark ride storytelling at its best. Front to back impressive effects and set pieces, great pacing, some genuinely thrilling moments, an all around good time. Way better than something like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in my opinion. I also love how the Frozen stuff interacts with the rest of Norway and how it breaths a lot of life into what was otherwise one of the more passed-over pavilions.
2. Impressions De France - UTTERLY TRANSFORMATIVE. Every. Damn. Time. The "Aquarium" theme starting just gives me freaking chills. I don't care if the footage isn't HD. This is VINTAGE Disney that should be preserved in a museum if it ever does leave the park. Top to bottom one of my all time favorite "adult" Disney attractions in the most mature sense of the word.
1. Grand Fiesta Tour - Were ya'll expecting anything less??? Grand Fiesta Tour after a stop at La Cava is straight up THE best experience in the entire resort hands down haha. In all seriousness, I really do this this stupid little boat ride just backs in all the dark ride charm and culture that I want and is really THE only attraction at the park that I absolutely need to hit up on any given day.
You kids and your “night mode”Whoops.
In my defense, I'm in dark mode, so it's blue text on a black background.
I only know epcot lol so here's my epcot listView attachment 564410
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
The time has come for another installment of TT4!!
It’s extremely straight forward this time! I wanna know your top four favorite opening day attractions from ANY Disney park!! The rules are simple, if it was existing and operational on the park’s opening day, IT COUNTS!!
For clarity; looking for four attractions from one theme park!
Tegan’s Top Four:
Park: EPCOT Center
4. Universe of Energy
I have a massive soft spot for this attraction. When I was a little kid I was obsessed with dinosaurs. Not much has changed, but this attraction was like a dream come true back in the early early 90s! As I continued to visit, I gained an appreciation for the ride system itself, and for the larger subject matter. The subject of energy remains an intriguing one, and I wish Disney would tackle it once more at Epcot.
3. Spaceship Earth
The icon. Approaching the park, it beckons visitors forth and sets the tone for what discoveries are to be found at this most unique and special theme park. The story is simple yet wonderful. Spaceship Earth left visitors filled with a sense of optimism and hope, and you just can’t ask for much more than that.
2. World of Motion
Perhaps there is a bit of childhood nostalgia at work here, as this was the first opening day EPCOT Center pavilion to receive a complete overhaul. But I always found this attraction to be entertaining and enjoyable. I really appreciate the juxtaposition of the serious narration alongside the scenes loaded with visual gags. And that element curving track leading outside the building and up into the pavilion provided some spectacular views!
1. Listen to the Land
Living with the Land is my absolute favorite currently operating attraction in any Disney park. I absolutely love it. This is my happy place. LTTL/LWTL is also the most “Epcot” of all the Epcot pavilions. This ride, more than any other, fully realizes the vision for the park; you can actually eat the food that is grown here! The Land pavilion itself is a masterpiece of architecture and design, and you’re overwhelmed by absolutely fabulous scents the moment you enter the main lobby! Perfection.
THIS IS FRIENDSHIPI only know epcot lol so here's my epcot list
5. Spaceship Earth: I prefer the Irons version and the Cronkite version, but there's just something so interesting about an epcot ride that took itself so seriously they needed to redo it incredibly early on. But also in general the ride itself is iconic, but technically the best versions of it weren't opening day so thus the number 5 spot here.
4. Communicore: While I still don't quite like it as much as innoventions, there was a certain magic to communicore. I bet it was really amazing to experience all that new tech in one spot. The backstage magic tour still lives on today, so it has a longer lasting legacy than most epcot attractions (sorry to fans of some of the unluckier epcot attractions that don't quite have the same legacy).
3. Listen to the land: Seeing plants grow is COOL. Seeing different ways you can grow them it's COOLER. Seeing how plants grow in space is the COOLEST.
2. World of motion: One of classic epcot's attractions that got making learning fun right, the silliness of the ride is a lot of fun and the ending manages to make me tear up a bit. It isn't as visual as many other similar dark rides and I think replacing it with test track was the right move but it does have a special place.
1. Imagination: I know, I know, very generic but it's so good. The scenery and characters are iconic and it's loss is upsetting even as someone who never got to experience it.
I’m so glad someone did DCA!!!!!Might have something.
DCA
4. Superstar Limo - I loved it as a child haha. It's a dark ride and it put you on a billboard at the end. Surely I could get some ironic enjoyment out of it now as well .
3. Soarin' Over California - The music! The smells! The Music! The serene-ness! The MUSIC! Disneyland circa Rocket Rods! THE MUSIC! Bring it back permanently when?
2. It's Tough to be a Bug - Enjoyable film. Lobby had cool music and fun posters. Delightful song that also makes for wonderful exit music. The spider AAs and how close they got to you. (For the record, I always leaned forward to avoid the sting.)
1. Muppet*Vision 3D - [clip from Great Muppet Caper of Miss Piggy saying "Need I say more?"
I honestly don’t hate the Nigel Channing ride as much as a lot of people either so we vibe!Eh, what the heck? Here are my top four favorite EPCOT rides (that I've actually been on).
4 - Living With the Land. Relaxing, serene, AND informative.
3 - Journey Into Imagination With Figment. Yes, it's not nearly as good as the original, but I can't bring myself to dislike it. I've always been a bit fan of Figment. I love the "let's make fun of how crappy the second version was" plotline with Figment calling out Dr. Nigel Channing on his bullcrap. I love that Dave Goelz voices Figment in the ride. It's probably the most whimsical attraction in all of EPCOT.
2 - Soarin'. I wish the lines weren't so dang long, but it's my favorite "simulator" in the resort. I have a habit of forgetting that I'm not actually flying when I ride it. Great soundtrack, too.
1 - Test Track. Like with Soarin', I love both versions, but of the two I think I might prefer the original version because of the nostalgia I get from it. I wish World of Motion didn't have to be removed for it to be built, but that doesn't make me love it any less.
