So coming from the Apple side of the fence, I have mixed feelings.

It looks nice, I’ll give it that. I think they’ve done a better job than usual with a system-wide cohesive design. Windows 8 had tons of design elements from Windows 7, 10 still had File Explorer icons from the early 2000s, etc. This time it looks like they’ve been more comprehensive with it.

On the other side of that coin, they haven’t changed too much from Windows 10. They’ve kept the best parts and tried to just ensure everything across the system uses that language. I think it’s a smart approach. In most previous versions of Windows, starting with XP, pretty much every version (with the kind-of exception of 7) had an entirely new and different UI. This is a nice balance.

However, as of these screenshots it does feel like there’s a lot of wasted space. In the Start Menu, particularly.

The icons look nice, but I can’t imagine using them daily. Then again, that’s exactly what I thought when Big Sur came out, and now I’m in love with the icons. 😅 I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens when it’s officially announced.

THAT’S SUPER RAD!!! YOU’LL BE MARATHONING LIGHTNING ROD AT THE SAME TIME AS I’M MARATHONING IRON GWAZI!!!
Grandma and I were originally going to do Silver Dollar City but we landed on Dollywood instead because it's way easier to get to from Santa Rosa and also because there's a ton more coasters I feel like are actually accessible to her (Mystery Mine, Firechaser, Thunderhead) Really excited. Hopefully Iron Gwazi will actually be open by the time you're down there. The situation with that thing is super bizarre right now. Maybe the two of us could plan a Silver Dollar City pilgrimage in the future?

Oh yea, and can't forget about this gem that I'm genuinely WAY more terrified about than any of the Dollywood coasters bar none :hilarious: :hilarious:

Yeah, fingers crossed that Gwazi actually opens this year…

Oh we absolutely must do SDC! Everyone I know who’s been says it’s simply stellar. I’ve seen roaster enthusiast rankings of the world’s top theme parks, and oftentimes their Top Four is my Top Three plus SDC.

Will you be trying out some alpine coasters in Pigeon Forge? I hear good things about Goats on the Roof, among others with less memorable names.

Definitely going to try to hit up as many of the alpine coasters as I can. We'll be there for six days and most likely will do Dollywood for three or four of those days, so I'm definitely looking for stuff to do outside the park. My coaster count is stupidly close to 100 and while this trip won't do it, it will definitely get me close.

I've been playing around with the idea of flying into St. Louis and hitting that park on the way to a full SDC stay. It's definitely more out of the way than Springfield but it'd be great for my coaster credits. Especially Mr. Freeze.

One of the leaked screenshots I saw showed windows 11 still using the old icons for settings and whatnot. Dunno if that will be changed in the final release. That seems to be the one thing theyre holding over, unless of course it gets changed in the final release.

Yeah I thought so too. I think if theyre was options to reduce that I'd like it more. Also options to make the borders less rounded and an option to not make the start menu float. Guess we will have to see if that's included in the final release.

Honestly I like the rounded corners and floating elements, but again, I’m a Mac guy. 🤣
