Question of the Day
What are the best and worst parks in the world?
and why are they DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Paris
BEST: Either Disneyland or EPCOT, with the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris running a very close second.
WORST: Walt Disney Studios Paris. This may change once the expansion finally opens, but for now, easily the worst. At least DCA 1.0 had some unique attractions (California Screamin', Soarin', Grizzly River Run, Disney Animation), WDSP was just lame on all facets. The only things that park had going for it were CineMagique (which is sadly no longer around) and Ratatouille (which is opening at EPCOT at...some point, so there's nothing all that special about that ride anymore).

Best is, to me anyways, disney's california adventure! Hot take I know but the amount of memories I have of it and the charm of it really pluses it in my mind. Plus a solid ride line up.
Worst is probably 00s epcot due to how big of a downgrade it is/was to the 90s stuff, though studios paris comes close with how bland it seems.

Saw this in my feed today, think it's pretty neat!

edit: pretty odd though imo it isn't like tomorrowland or epcot's area music during the time period. Lots of smooth jazz here haha. Wonder if it was from a pre existing promo album from the time.

Question of the Day
Who is your favorite fictional character of all time?
"Favorite" is so tough to define. So, I'm gonna just kind list ones that have influence me, my personalty, or my writing over the years and left a BIG impact on me.

  • Artemis Fowl (The movie was so bad, worse than Percy Jackson or Last Airbender as an adaptation)
  • Bojack Horseman
  • Steven Universe
  • Peter Parker
  • The Doctor (10 and 12)
  • Michael Bluth (First 3 seasons)

Question of the Day
What are some of your favorite books or other pieces of literature?
Other than a reread of a comfort book, I haven't read much in recent years. So, a lot of my favorites tend to be ones aimed towards younger readers. But they hold up incredibly well (at least the ones I have reread as an adult)

  • Artemis Fowl (The movie was so bad, worse than Percy Jackson or Last Airbender as an adaptation)
  • Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy
  • Animorphs
  • Series of Unfortunate Events
  • Narnia: Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
  • The Harry Potter Books

I encourage all the Avatar fans to check out the podcast going live at the top of the hour where Dragon and I will be ranking all the "Last Airbender" and "Legend of Korra" books against each other.

Working on a video about opening day California Adventure (Hope to have it finally done by the end of the week!) and researching this early version of the park is just insane. I wasn't expecting to find a connection to the rebirth of the kkk in 1915 while researching Hollywood Pictures Backlot an yet here I am!

Going into D. W. Griffith and all might get cut to keep things from getting too heavy in what is meant to be a comedic video. But it was just such a crazy connection I had to share it with someone!

There’s also a mall in Hollywood based on the same set ;)

And you can go there in LA Noire, which is actually super cool.

It's incredibly impressive! And a great set that is representative of old hollywood epics like Ben Hur which were just Bat Crap crazy. Just a really odd connection for the entrance when the rest of the area has no thematic or visual or story connections to that era of Hollywood and the complicated history of the set and the movie.

The LA Noire is extra fascinating to me from my research since it is one of the few anachronistic things in there since it was finally demolished around 20 years before the game takes place. But the developers found it an interesting enough set piece to break their own rules for it.

This is why I love doing research for Defunctland, Bright Sun Films, etc. While it might not make the final video, there are some things we discover that are absolutely insane!

When I started this video, I thought the craziest thing would be the display of farm equipment being the first thing listed on Guidemaps. So many rabbit holes since then haha. I can definitely see why you love it!

@AceAstro any random fun facts you've found over the years you want to share that you've never had a good opportunity to??
One that always blows my mind:

The elephant that Dumbo is loosely based off of, Jumbo, was once owned by the infamous PT Barnum. Jumbo was getting very ill due to all the random things it was eating (not elephant food) and the rumour is that the price to get them fixed was so high that Jumbo was "accidentally" left on the train tracks when they were packing up to move cities and got hit by a train car killing them instantly.

While PT Barnum always claimed innocence it would not surprise me if it went otherwise.

This part isn't proven or anything but just a feeling of mine. But since I have discovered this and watched it again, Mr. Vandevere from the Live-action Dumbo gives me such PT Barnum vibes...
