The longest I've ever driven is from here to Virginia... That's about 9-10 hours. I couldn't handle all the way to Florida.
We traveled about 10-ish hours the first day from CT to Cheapeake Bay, from there to Jacksonville for about 8-9 hours, and then from there to WBP for 4 hours (this is all factoring in stopping for rests too).

Staying at a Residence Inn at each stop so Doggo can be with us:joyfull::D

Then it wasn't until after the weekend on Monday that we drove to WDW, and returned Tuesday (about 2 hours each way).

I've done it since I was a wee lad :p anytime we go to Disney we drive...builds the anticipation too.

Hope your move went well!
It did, thanks!

I always fly, the whole flight process was more than enough for me:p I used to hate flying to go there, but then landing in MCO kind of became a nostalgic ritual for our WDW vacations, along with riding the Magical Express, so I started to like it:p:D

I just don't get it...They cannot rationally explain this decision in any way, especially ToT.

There are SO MANY better solutions to what they want to do, yet they chose some of the worst possible things.
Really. I understand them doing away with the Twilight Zone theme. Frankly, they could very easily overhaul it to remove all Twilight Zone references, and I don't think it would really change the ride. At most it would take away slightly. But GoTG is ridiculous. It doesn't fit in the area that ToT is placed in, it would be taking away perhaps the most acclaimed Disney attraction of the last 20 years, and would basically just be a huge you to the attractions absolutely massive fan base.

I totally understand it at DCA. The land it's in it pretty loose and in an odd constant state of evolution. Couple that with the fact that ToT doesn't garner quite the same acclaim as its' East coast sister, and the DCA's is SO lackluster compared to DHS', and it makes total sense that they would like to retheme it to a much feature a much more popular, and much more financially viable, IP for West coast audiences.

I just don't think that there's any reason for it to happen in WDW. It adds nothing. It only takes away from a park that already has a huge identity crisis.

I don't understand why they refuse to just build a new attraction for it. The Energy replacement, as the current plans go, would call for completely tearing apart the pavilion and even changing the building. The budget for this obviously brand new ride is clearly huge; why not just build this new ride somewhere in DHS?! It makes zero sense.

Because UoE is consistently hated by guests. Generally. I love it (mainly because of the ride system), but I have yet to meet another person who liked it. It makes sense at EPCOT, as much as I hate it. They're tearing down an unpopular, terribly dated ride to put in a ride that guaranteed to be popular, and topical, for quite a long time.

That said, it spells the death of EPCOT, and would be a MUCH better fit in DHS (just not over ToT), but hey! Money, amirite?!

I love it because of the classic ride system like you, but I also think it's a really good show; doing a good job of mixing humor with serious issues. I don't ride it that often, but when I do, it's a nice ride. One of the last remains of edutainment.

It makes sense at the Bobs' vision of Ipcot, not Epcot. Like, I don't see what sort of connection to the real world they could make with superhero aliens. And I don't know that I agree that it will be topical for a long time. GotG really didn't feel like it had a big cultural impact. It's their big IP right now though and works under the contract so I guess thats good enough for them.

I'm sorry, I'm being awfully negative :p

I agree, the DCA ToT doesn't even come close to WDW's version. No Rod Sterling voice on-ride, less interesting exterior design.

And it also leaves room for the expanded Marvel land

But it makes zero...absolutely zero sense to put GotG at the end of Hollywood Boulevard in DHS. Rock n' Roller Coaster would have to become Adam Warlock's liftoff, oh no...I just gave them an idea:oops:

That's another good point for their current ideas for GotG just being horrible placement. Placing it more strategically such as a new ride on the current Indiana Jones show plot (or hell even as the future Star Tours replacement once SWL opens) allows them to expand out from the park in the event that they are ever able to work with more Marvel properties (or perhaps just a superhero land altogether with Big Hero 6, the incredibles).

See that I would be cool with - that's totally fine!

But one top of it replacing one of my top 5 favorite attractions...you'd just be permanently ruining the aesthetic story of Sunset Boulevard. :bored:

Also the thing I don't get (haha..we could talk for hours as to how bad this idea is)...but it's not like Tower of Terror is unpopular.

If they re-themed a somewhat unpopular or cult ride to GotG (like Maelstrom to Frozen) -- then it's somewhat understandable, though the fan base goes balistic.

Tower of Terror is one of the most popular rides in all of Disney World...what boost does it need? Is GotG really going to drive the attendance that much? I doubt it. New rides do. It's like you're replacing an All-Star on your team, with another All-Star, but one that ruins the team chemistry, so now your team stinks:p
