So... What is for Dinner?..:)

Hectic day. DW - I don't know - Christmas party food with her book-club buddies. DD #1 - some kind of quick thing - she had to run off to her holiday concert prep at school. DD #2 - Mom spent a whole lot of time making a ham and egg quiche (OK, it was pre-prepared, but still), and DD #2 fussed and fussed, and ended up with Taco Bell crunch wrap at 9 PM. I ate the quiche. It was pretty good. Kids had brownies left over from my birthday (I'll probably get in trouble with mom for that).

DW had a job interview this morning, and then worked on follow-up, then she picked up the kids, ran some errands, fed the kids (or tried to) and went to DD #2's concert. Now she is at the party, and then has to work tonight at Target stocking, tomorrow sub-teaching all day, and tomorrow night again at Target. I'm very concerned that she's buring the candle at both ends and is going to crash soon. Please say a prayer for her.

So, DW's Christman party fare turned out to consist of Marc's Pizza Family Meal Deal, which was pizza, wings, and fried cheese (yum). We had the leftovers for lunch today (they gave DW all the leftovers, since we are both in job search - it's nice to have good friends).

I didn't get in trouble for the brownies, mainly because she didn't find out about them. But she was really angry that DD #2 didn't eat the quiche. I tried to defend her up to the point of not getting in trouble myself, and think I handled it quite nicely. Alltogether it came out fine considering the pre-holiday chaos and our crazy schedule. The HS choir / concert band concert was great, btw. And DW seems to be holding up well as of roughly the middle of her two-job work marathon.

Good for you!

How are those NutriSystem meals?

Thanks. :)

They are not too bad. I really don't feel hungry at all to be honest which I never thought would be the case. Some of the meals are great and others, I will never get again. Those are few and far between, most are pretty good.

If you wanted a list of the "I would never eat that again" items, I can send them to you in a PM. :)

Sure, I'm curious to know, and also the ones you really like!

I was on Nutrisystem 16 years ago, when they had retail outlets with counseling sessions. The food was really good (considering) and most of the time when combined with the other stuff I was supposed to eat (like fresh raw vegetables, etc.) I couldn't even finish it all. I lost almost 30 lbs the first month, then tapered off after that.

I had put on weight because DW was pregnant, and when she ate more so did I. Don't laugh! I found out that it's a fairly common problem for expectant fathers!

Just be careful if you have high blood pressure; some of that stuff is high in PPN. Or at least it was back then.

Tonight was codfish and mashies from Bazooka's. DW had JD steak with veggies and baked potato. That was after the TSO concert at the Meadowlands Arena (which was awsome!). My BD present from DW! Concert was awsome, food was meh.

I gained as well when my wife was pregnant... :)

What is PPN? My bloodpressure is pretty good. One number is slightly above where it should be and the other slightly below. Not perfect but pretty good.

Had a new one by me last Friday ... Green Sea Turtle.

Meh

Tasted like bland chicken, chewed like a pork chop.

Sauce was very good though, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes - very nice.

Actually, I got the abbreviation wrong - it's PPA: Phenylpropanolamine. It used to be used as an over-the-counter decongestant, but there was a risk of stroke due to increased heart rate and BP, so when better solutions became available it was taken off the market (in this country, anyway).

Then for a while it was marketed as an appetite surpressant. It used to be the main ingredient in Dexatrim, for example, but I just found out (when I looked it up to see how to spell it properly) that the FDA prohibitied the sale in 2005 OTC (because of the health risks and because of it's possible use in illegal manufacture of amphetamines), so Dexatrim doesn't have it as an ingredient anymore.

I suspect it's been taken out of the Nutrisystem foods as well, so I wouldn't worry. Sorry if I scared anyone!

No problem. I just spoke to one of the counslers at NS to verify and they do not add any app surpressants to their food. :)
