Pre-Trip So This is Love....myhappyplace's Disneymoon!!

OK this thread is way earlier than needed, LOL, but I'm just so excited! I have been trying to talk with my fiance (well, mostly-I'll get to that in a minute) about where to go on our honeymoon. Then, one of the Disney commercials came on TV when we were watching together, and it featured a couple there together, and I said "I'd so do that" and as we kept talking, he said something like "didn't I tell you that I would go to Disney for our honeymoon" NO!!! You hadn't mentioned it!! I would have already been planning it, LOL!!!

Anyway, I'm Amber. Been a member of the forum for a few years now, but I find that I visit mostly when I know I have a trip coming up, otherwise it is too painful to look at the gorgeous pictures and trip reports!!

About Dave and I: We met online :) Actually, it was from being a member of this site, and seeing how close people in the Chit Chat threads were, and from getting to talk to the ladies I came to know in the Scrapbooking thread, that led me to realize that there's a forum for just about any interest. So I joined a forum about the show LOST, which led me to meet MANY friends, and most importantly, Dave :) So after we had been talking for many months, we started discussing moving in together (quite an undertaking because I lived in PA and he in GA). Then, as we discussed it, he non-chalantly threw out there "and if we live together for a couple months and all is going well, I figure we can get married next fall, like you've always wanted". So, I haven't had an actual PROPOSAL, though we are planning the wedding as we speak. As in, I have a bridal appointment with my mother back in PA in March, we've gotten the place, the date, the judge, the food. But I don't have a ring...I hope this is rectified soon, however, or he's gonna hear it!! :p I did make the move, btw, and have been living together VERY happily for 6 months now :)

I'm rambling.

I contacted everyone's favorite Kingdom Konsultant-Tammy-about the Disneymoon. We really aren't wanting anything in the way of gifts-we pretty much have all we need since we live together already. So I'm hoping to set up a way that my guests can donate toward our trip. I would LOOOOOOVE to stay at least 2 nights a Wilderness Lodge (have always wanted to), and then possibly move to Pop Century for the remainder of the trip (also because I want my Mom and little brother to join us later in the week, after Dave and I at least get a couple days as newlyweds).

So I guess this thread will be very pre-trip, as I want to go in October, hopefully October 19th-26th (which would also include my birthday). Anyway, thought I could sort of share my plans as I make them.

I'd always welcome thoughts and inputs as well, I'm sure I'm missing things.

My husband's cousin recently got married. She and her fiance lived together and was already settled into their home. In their wedding invitation, she had an insert that listed a website for their honeymoon fund. Where instead of giving gifts from a registry, family and guest could donate to the honeymoon cost. At first, I thought this was tacky but realized that this was their wishes. It was just like buying something off their gift registry plus it was a quick, easy way for a gift. Might be something to look into. Good luck and best wishes!

This is what she had in her invitation:
When thinking of a gift for us
We ask if you’d please consider
Contributing to our honeymoon
to make it all the sweeter.
Our house is full of all the things
a couple could require,
and so a holiday away
is what we most desire.
Then while we’re relaxing on the beach
or by the pool so blue
we’ll sit back and know
that it is truly thanks to you!

Soooooo....we booked!! Yay!

We decided to splurge and stay at Wilderness Lodge for the whole week! This will be my first time in anything other than a Value Resort, but we decided, hey! its our Honeymoon and that should be a one-time thing, so let's do it right :)

We'll be staying at WL from October 19th-26th.

I am still hoping that my mother and brother, and then my three sisters and their husbands and children can join us starting on the 21st (Dave and I would like a couple days alone, lol)...so we will see if they're able. I've always wanted to take my brother, Zac, at Halloween time-can't wait till those MNSSHP dates come out!!

Sorry for the extreme thread bump but there have been many things happen in the course of planning, so I'll update:

Dave and I are getting married on August 31st, but Disneymooning October 19th-26th at WL. I got a free dining code in the mail, oh, about a month back now, and it applied to our stay, which will be saving us plenty of money!! We've also booked tickets for the October 22nd MNSSHP and have the following ADRs booked: 10/19- Narcoosee's, 10/20 SciFi Dine in Theater (never tried), and 10/21-BOG (whoop whoop!!).

Now, I was hoping my family could join us. My sister Chrissy and her husband and two boys, aged (at trip time) 3 and 1 were definites almost from the moment Dave and I booked. Another sister, Bobbie, was a maybe, as was my Mom and brother. (10 year old brother Zac has Asperger's and will be only a little over a month into a brand new school {middle school} so we weren't sure how well he would be able to deal with change/ missing a week's worth of work)

Well, then, a very sad and horrible thing happened...my Mom got diagnosed with Stage 3A lung cancer :( We have all the faith in the world, she is GOING to beat this!!! But as a result, now not only my Mom, Zac, DAD (who has only been one other time and I assumed last time-he didn't hate it, just is not his thing) have booked their trip, but so has my Aunt Sal, Bobbie's family, and my cousin Jamie, her hubby and baby!!! Turns out we want to make sure that we have a very memorable family vacation, you understand. I hope the other sister Dana will be able to make it with her stepson and 1 year old as well, but not sure if it's gonna happen. She starts chemo and radiation within the next 2 weeks, so I am hoping all will be well by the wedding and trip, so we will see. I'm sure it is going to be fine, and a trip we will all cherish.

OH! And that free dining code?? Yeah, I never would have known without the wonderful @Disneyfalcon (aka Tammy) that it would apply to 3 rooms, so my Mom's room (Mom, Dad, Zac, and Aunt Sal) and Bobbie's room (Bobbie, hubby Ryan, and 5-year-old nephew Bennett) will get free dining as well!! They're staying at POP. Turns out they are going to be down there the same time as us, and aren't able to come down a few days later as we originally asked, but all will be well-they promised to give Dave and I some Disneymooning time without them :p

And, OH, OH! They've all booked Oct 22nd MNSSHP tickets too, so that should be a fun night...now to think of costumes!

So, that's where we stand at this point...still cannot wait!

^^thank you, she is doing great!! The doctors were already noticing significant shrinkage of the tumor after only 10 radiation sessions, and it continues to shrink!! She has some issues with swallowing food, and is trying to eat more to maintain weight/not lose any more weight. But other than that, she is in wonderful spirits, and is such a fighter!

Just thought I'd update with some more info/new plans, the most important one being what I just said above. We're 2 weeks out from the wedding, and only 62 days out from the Disneymoon!! So with that, I've nailed down some plans and would love any input:

Saturday, October 19th- Arrival Day! We should be arriving at around 10/11 in the morning, so I thought we'd hit the pool, maybe I could show my fiance the monorail resorts, maybe Downtown. We have an ADR at Narcoosee's at 7:15 for our Honeymoon dinner.

Sunday, October 20th- DHS Day! We have an ADR at the SciFi at 1:00, and will stay for Fantasmic! (which I haven't seen in several years)

Monday, October 21st- Magic Kingdom Day! Fiance and I have an ADR at Be Our Guest at 6:25.

Tuesday, October 22nd- Animal Kingdom until around 3:00 or so, then we head to MK for our MNSSHP!

Wednesday, October 23rd- Epcot

Thursday, October 24th- (my birthday!)- Magic Kingdom, and then an ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe for the whole big group at 5:00 for my birthday dinner.

Friday, October 25th- The big gang of family all heads home this morning, so fiance and I have a breakfast ADR at 7:55 at Kona Cafe. We figured we'd do as we please, hit favorite things/attractions, etc. Then we have a lunch ADR at 3:00 at Teppan Edo.

Think that's it for now!

Wow this sounds so exciting! A honeymoon and your birthday at Disney, YEAH!

My husband and I will be in WDW at the same time as you, mostly to enjoy the F&W Festival. Are you planning to check that out at all? It is my all time favorite Disney event.

We are yes :) I've been able to attend the F&W Fest a couple of times, and really do enjoy it! Epcot as a whole is my least favorite park though so that's why only the one day, though I can see my fiance liking it, and so maybe that's where we'll spend some of Friday. I really wanted it to work out that I could be in my favorite park on my actual birthday, as I was for my 30th, 5 years ago, but because of the parade and fireworks schedule/ MK closing early for MNSSHP that night, decided it would be best to go to Epcot.

This keeps getting closer and closer!! Our wedding was Saturday (3 days ago) and it turned out beautifully!! My mom danced, which made me so happy :) She still gets tired out easily but she threw me the best wedding I could ever dream of. My groom and I had our first dance to Tangled's "I See the Light", and our entire trip is paid for!! Everything was perfect :D

So now the countdown to the Disneymoon is 46 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, another update as we are now down to 9 days!! :D

Not too long ago, they found that Mom had some spots in lymph nodes around her body, so she had her first round (of this new round) of chemo today. It is a "general" chemo, until her biopsy of her adrenal gland comes back, so that they can more tailor-customize her next rounds of chemo to her. But she said she isn't sick (mind you this is still day of, so it might come...) and she is super ready for Disney! We've taken care of renting her wheelchairs in the airports, and renting her an ECV to use in the parks and her resort. So I think we've gotten her taken care of.

Magic bands are all in, FP+s made, day schedules for all 4 groups of us made (we're together some and apart some), so all set there.

We've recently adopted (not necessarily by choice, lol) 4 kittens that a cat that we were feeding on our front porch for a year or so had (we didn't even know she was pregnant), so now we're trying to decide if we want to board them for the week-an unexpected cost of about $350. Still might be worth it for our peace of mind (hubby is huge animal lover and would worry that one would run away or something). We can't keep them in our house because our older cat would tear them to pieces.

Other than that, I'm like 80% packed and ready!! Just have to add hubby's clothes to the suitcase (he has fewer clothes than I do so needs many of his things until next week).

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Congratulations! Very exciting. AND, we have a lot in common: I'm going to be with my family (wife and two kids) almost the exact same dates as you, my Mom unfortunately also is fighting lung cancer (and it's going well - been a few years now), I'll also be celebrating my birthday while we're at WDW, and we still have to find a pet sitter for our cat! Not Disneymooning though, obviously! ;) Also, we haven't done any packing yet, so that's another difference. Anyway, I hope you have a great time - here's hoping for great weather and small crowds! I'll be very interested to read your TR. I hope to do one myself - it sort of hinges on taking enough photos, something I often forget about or don't bother too much with. But I'll definitely write up something, and have at least some food photos :D

Oh pictures won't be a problem for me, I love to take pictures!! I really would love to take a photography class sometime but I seem to do alright-sometimes I do my nephews' portraits, and my sisters are always happy with them.

I hope you have fun too! October has been my favorite time to go in the past! I went in October in 2008 for my 30th birthday and we had great weather and crowds (save for one rainy morning at AK, and one rainy MNSSHP) MNSSHP really is fun and you can't go wrong with F&W.

Great to hear that your Mom is doing so well, years later!! Really gives me even more hope!! :) I look forward to your report.
