PR folks say what they're told to say, people.
That they do, often in the face of obvious contradiction.

Anyhoo...I gotta admit. My normally loose-lipped sources didn't spill a word about the wands demise to me until late May. Either it was a closely guarded secret, or it was just fun being had at my expense. I'll hope for the former....:lookaroun

Significant rumbles and mumbles have been around since Siemens first announced they hated the wand at the sponsorship negotiations; but when their sponsorship began and the wand stayed in place, I wasn't sure when they would get their way. One thing is certain: Siemens did not solely pay to deconstruct the thing. The interior of SSE has not been compromised for wand deconstruction. :D

Yeah, as I said in an earlier thread, that was a sticking point about the wand. Siemens didn't like it, but not enough to pay to remove it. WDI wanted it down, but not enough to take money out of the ride. Deciding where that money was coming from (either out of the refurb budget or new money) was what they had to figure out before the wand could come down.

I just thought Id add c few pics of the stars, and an extra pic I havent seen posted before anywhere... Enjoy...

You can definately see that the supports are strung between the panels.

It even looks like some of them have safety cable strung to them for added safety, kind of like theater lighting uses.

I thought this was an interesting pic, and have never seen it before.

If Siemens had anything to do with the wand removal then good things are on the horizon.

I swear - the company name - makes every sentance with the name sound lecherous. :lookaroun

probably a bucket attached to a crane or maybe the way they paint water towers by hanging from the side, that would be cool!

As reference to the size of the stars, look at the closeup pic above showing the support struts, then look at this; the person bottom right is holding the corner of one of the outer panels

Holy cow. I really couldn't grasp before now just how large they were. Thanks for the pic!
