So is anyone losing interest in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train?

This is why I only occasionally read these boards any more... We true Disney fans hate everything. The ride hasn't even opened yet and people are "over it"... and it sucks.

I wonder what people would think of splash mountain if they tried to sell it now, by description only.... its a log ride, like every other amusement park in the world has, but not as big of a drop as the others... but wait, it has a dark ride like scene, but its not dark, and its themed around "Song of the south"?!?!? What an Epic Fail!

SDMT looks very much to me like Splash Mountain, a mix of story with some minor thrills. Comparing it to Big Thunder, just because they are both mining based, seems unfair.

I couldn't care less that the soft openings aren't happening yet because I am not scheduled to be there during them. My trip is in June when it will be opened and I am stoked to go on it and ride it myself. I have avoided the ride through videos since I will be on it in a couple of weeks. The long construction didn't bother me because I wasn't going within the last year, so it is new to me whether or not it opened this month or a year ago.

I'm not expecting a major thrill ride, so this will probably meet my expectations.

To be honest, I'm not that excited for it. I have been somewhat disappointed with the Fantasyland expansion. It looks great for sure. I have yet to try Be Our Guest since it wasn't open when I was there. I was extremely disappointed with the Under the Sea with the Little Mermaid ride. I feel like it spent more time walking through the queue than I was on the ride. I feel like Seven Dwarfs is going to be very similar. A very short coaster leaving you wanting more. However the new "Toontown" is nice.

I think it's quite a shame that people are down on this ride because they saw a Youtube video about it. I'm not saying it's going to be great, but when has a video of an attraction done any justice at all to the actual experience of an attraction?

I'll continue to be very excited up until I'm able to ride it, then it's up to the actual ride experience to pull through for me.

Am I looking forward to riding it eventually, yes. Do I expect it to be a thrill ride, no. It's supposed to be a ride for kids to enjoy. Have I lost interest in hearing about it, you bet I have. I wasn't all that impressed with the new Fantasyland up until now anyway.

I am excited about it but wish it was a bit longer than the 2 minutes being reported. I do think it is a very nice addition to Fantasy Land expansion which I thinking wouldn't be so great of an expansion if it wasn't for this ride. I see it as a new classic which will be loved by generations to come. It just should have been done a LONG time ago.

It's interesting that I have never heard anyone complain Space Mountain is to short, but everyone is complaining about this ride being to short, yet they are almost the same length.

I think that is largely coming from the fact that the other coasters are all coaster, and this is a coaster with dark ride component. A closer comparison for the Mine Train would probably be to Splash Mountain, which is where it is falling short in some people's opinion.

That's the fault of those armchair imagineers, not the actual Imagineers. It had never even been implied that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train would be on the scale of Spalsh Mountain. What is built is exactly what was promised, and it's an absolutely lovely attraction. The same people ing and moaning about it right now being "too short" or "not an E-ticket" etc, etc, will be the same people trampling other park guests to be the first in line the second there is a public soft opening. They're hypocrites. They're just looking for something to complain about to because they're upset they cannot ride it yet. Their tune will take a complete 180º once they get their way and are able to get on the trains themselves.

Do you complain that Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin isn't on the same level of The Haunted Mansion? Because they're both omnimovers, so how dare they not be the same level experience?!

Do you complain that Gran Fiesta Tour isn't on the same level of Pirates of the Caribbean? Because they're both boat rides, so how dare they not be the same level experience?!

Stop living in a world of black and white absolutes. You'll have so much more fun when you visit!

This is my first year as an AP and I have to say, I'm very excited still. I don't care how dated things are, I don't care that construction is slow, I just love Disney. The toughest part of this is being on these forums and keeping enthusiasm with so much negativity. I will be there this weekend and will be happy to see the walls down. Next month when we visit again, I'll be just as happy to ride it.

Excellently said. More people should have your attitude.

Those who follow the parks closely will know exactly what to expect. I suspect the larger issue will be with those who just see the commercials of a coaster, or hear of a new Disney coaster, and will expect to be seeing something along the lines of Everest, Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain.

As you say, Disney has produced a wonderful additional for a Fantasyland coaster. No question it is the best coaster around for the little ones.

The simple solution to all this would have been of course to have opened something else for the other age groups either at MK or one of the other parks.

This becomes a matter of opinion, but I'd be truly surprised to hear someone come off this ride and say "Expedition Everest was better." Everest is *not* a good coaster. In its bare bones, it's two helixes and one drop. From a show standpoint - as everyone well knows around here, it's basically one projection effect. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train does much more with its show coaster portions, and what it does is no doubt more satisfying. I'd go so far as to argue that what it does in the *show* portion is more satisfying than Everest when Everest *did* work in 2006.

Doom & Gloomers are going to be really, truly surprised once they get on this one.

Well it is always subjective and in the eye of the rider, but I know a lot of people take Everest purely on its speed and Gs. A good proportion of riders are going to find the mine train to be tame. Again, I'm not saying that is the fault of the designers - as this is what a Fantasyland coaster should be. But it will be the case that a lot of teens and adults are going to go into the MK expecting a big new coaster that has big drops, high speed, and high Gs. Particularly with some of that CGI promo material that has been used.

I'm not sure that any of the CG has implied large drops? Has it? Did I miss something?

It's not a difficult assumption to have made at the Magic Kingdom over the past few days that many of the same groups of teens and adults were riding over and over and over and over and over for hours on end. I'd argue that you would not see as many repeat rides - even in a private invitation only preview - if it were truly that tame of an experience. Do you suppose people rode Journey Into Imagination with Figment over and over and over again when it had it's Cast Member previews?

We couldn't ride it when we were there last week, and we won't be back for at least 3 years, so the lack of soft openings totally killed any excitement my family might have had about it. But for those not faced with a similar "sour grapes" scenario who will have the chance to experience it when new, I'm sure there's still excitement.
