Wow, I am almost certain I left the punchline somewhere near here. . . If only . . .

I am excited about it but wish it was a bit longer than the 2 minutes being reported. I do think it is a very nice addition to Fantasy Land expansion which I thinking wouldn't be so great of an expansion if it wasn't for this ride. I see it as a new classic which will be loved by generations to come. It just should have been done a LONG time ago.
I think that is largely coming from the fact that the other coasters are all coaster, and this is a coaster with dark ride component. A closer comparison for the Mine Train would probably be to Splash Mountain, which is where it is falling short in some people's opinion. It's interesting that I have never heard anyone complain Space Mountain is to short, but everyone is complaining about this ride being to short, yet they are almost the same length.

This is my first year as an AP and I have to say, I'm very excited still. I don't care how dated things are, I don't care that construction is slow, I just love Disney. The toughest part of this is being on these forums and keeping enthusiasm with so much negativity. I will be there this weekend and will be happy to see the walls down. Next month when we visit again, I'll be just as happy to ride it.
Those who follow the parks closely will know exactly what to expect. I suspect the larger issue will be with those who just see the commercials of a coaster, or hear of a new Disney coaster, and will expect to be seeing something along the lines of Everest, Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain. That's the fault of those armchair imagineers, not the actual Imagineers. It had never even been implied that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train would be on the scale of Spalsh Mountain. What is built is exactly what was promised, and it's an absolutely lovely attraction. The same people ing and moaning about it right now being "too short" or "not an E-ticket" etc, etc, will be the same people trampling other park guests to be the first in line the second there is a public soft opening. They're hypocrites. They're just looking for something to complain about to because they're upset they cannot ride it yet. Their tune will take a complete 180º once they get their way and are able to get on the trains themselves.
Do you complain that Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin isn't on the same level of The Haunted Mansion? Because they're both omnimovers, so how dare they not be the same level experience?!
Do you complain that Gran Fiesta Tour isn't on the same level of Pirates of the Caribbean? Because they're both boat rides, so how dare they not be the same level experience?!
Stop living in a world of black and white absolutes. You'll have so much more fun when you visit!

As you say, Disney has produced a wonderful additional for a Fantasyland coaster. No question it is the best coaster around for the little ones.
The simple solution to all this would have been of course to have opened something else for the other age groups either at MK or one of the other parks.
Well it is always subjective and in the eye of the rider, but I know a lot of people take Everest purely on its speed and Gs. A good proportion of riders are going to find the mine train to be tame. Again, I'm not saying that is the fault of the designers - as this is what a Fantasyland coaster should be. But it will be the case that a lot of teens and adults are going to go into the MK expecting a big new coaster that has big drops, high speed, and high Gs. Particularly with some of that CGI promo material that has been used. This becomes a matter of opinion, but I'd be truly surprised to hear someone come off this ride and say "Expedition Everest was better." Everest is *not* a good coaster. In its bare bones, it's two helixes and one drop. From a show standpoint - as everyone well knows around here, it's basically one projection effect. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train does much more with its show coaster portions, and what it does is no doubt more satisfying. I'd go so far as to argue that what it does in the *show* portion is more satisfying than Everest when Everest *did* work in 2006.
Doom & Gloomers are going to be really, truly surprised once they get on this one.
