I am preparing to pack for our trip in 12 days. I noticed many others posted in the awesome "neat and pretty" thread that they do have some type of a beauty routine. I am headed out this weekend to get some last minute things so please tell me what beauty products/tips/ideas that you use or do. I am feeling more like a step sister am less like a princess the further along I get, need some prettiness:)
My tip: bare mineral powder foundation used lightly, has SPF, evens out skin with out the foundation/concealer heaviness and keeps shine down...

I pretty much do the same thing I do at home...Mix moisturizer and foundation, mascara, light liner, blush (although I use liquid or gel in summer months, powder sweats away- Benefit has great ones). I usually lighten up on eye shadow and whatnot. But I always have lipstick/lipgloss and a TON of sunscreen, I just feel like a mess if I don't. I have very long hair, and I can't deal with having to worry about it falling or sticking to my neck when I'm sweating, so it's typically up in a ponytail or some sort of bun.

My biggest sacrifice at Disney is the following: I generally hate sneakers. Unless I am in yoga pants or yoga capris or something, I NEVER wear them with jeans or shorts, I prefer sandals and flip flops in the summer. So my sacrifice is that I will wear sneakers or even (clutching my pearls) CROCS throughout the park for the sake of comfort. So if I'm in comfis at WDW, I have no problem w/ sneakers, but if I have a cute outfit on and my sneakers, I feel 'off'...but comfy. It's a weird quirk, but who doesn't have one? ;)
Unclutch the pearls!! I wear crocs vezzy flip flops while in the parks and they are cute enough to wear with skirts and comfy enough to wear all day rope drop to close!!! With all the options out there you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort!:)

I always start "prepping" myself the week before I leave. I get my hair done, mani/pedi, and I do a mineral body scrub so my legs look nice and feel soft while wearing shorts/dresses. (But I guess thats basic stuff I do throughout summer) And I step up my morning workout routine!

I get my keratin straightening done on my hair before I go, it maaajorly helps fight the frizz. Always a mani/pedi.

I won't recommend specific makeup/face products because everyone's skin chemistry is vastly different and products will have different levels of effectiveness for each person.

But ALWAYS use a facial moisturizer with SPF in it. Even when it's cloudy or cold. Orlando is pretty far south and even in the winter the UV is pretty strong. Don't forget to put it on the tops of your ears too!

Also always an SPF lip balm. Even for guys! I have one that tastes like Sprite that my man loves. Tinted SPF lip balms are a gift from the heavens!

A little tip I also follow is try to never part your hair if you aren't wearing a hat!! Scalp sunburn is the WORST when it starts peeling =/

Waterproof mascara is great for fighting humidity, just be gentle when removing it at night. Never tug on your eyelids to remove makeup! I use a liquid remover (neutrogena oil-free) on a cotton round and glide it gently over my lids.

I also swear by eyeshadow primers (I use Urban Decay's) to prevent melting/creasing. Though generally I only wear light to no makeup during the day, just mostly at night.

I'll make sure I'm super diligent about using sunscreen and reapplying as necessary. In 2008, at the beach, I got a nasty sunburn. It was very painful and i was taking the train back home the next day. Sitting down on the long train ride back to Syracuse wasn't fun.

If I were you I'd also pack some solarcaine just in case! Be careful in the sun!

I looked this thread back up to add my most recent "neat & pretty" tip and saw someone else was ON IT! Woot!!!! Here ya go, ladies! Pay attention!

I juuuuust had the Brazilian Blowout Zero done a couple hours ago in preparation for our Disney Fantasy cruise (Western Caribbean). I had the Zero done vs. the original because of the carcinogens and because I wanted to still have the option of frizz-free natural curls. I was very much on the fence about having it done because of the cost. Especially right before a cruise/vacation it's hard for me to be okay with such a huge chunk. I told my husband about it when I was trying to decide if I wanted to do it and he was like, "You wouldn't have any frizz? You wouldn't have to blow dry or straighten your hair? Why the heck WOULDN'T you do that?!?!" When I told him how much it was ($350) his response was: "That's worth it. You know it is. You've paid someone a hundred bucks on a cruise just to dry & straighten your hair ONE time. It's a bargain. You should do it. For what we spent on the cruise, think of the time you'll save. DO IT!" Gotta love a man's perspective, huh?

Fast forward to today! Not gonna lie, I was a little freaked out by the burning eyes, nose, and throat when she was blow-drying the product in. No problems with the straightener part of the process. When she finished the stylist was going to blow dry and straighten again but I told her not to so we could see what my natural curl would look like now. That's where I'm likely to see the biggest difference. All she did was put a leave-in conditioner on my hair then used a diffuser to get the soaking wet off. It's been a few hours. My long hair is still slightly damp. The curl is looser than it was but there's NO frizz at all. No anti-frizz serums. No finishing sprays. NOTHING. No layering of products in my hair. Just leave-in conditioner and I'm frizz-free. I cannot tell you how ecstatic I am! I have lots of long hair, down to the middle of my back. Blow drying then flat ironing out the frizzies is such a labor intensive process for me that usually takes at least an hour or so to do before I ever start my makeup. I'm hopeful this will make life easier so that I don't have to blow dry, no ironing, nothing and still have decent frizz-free hair.

Not only will this be a game-changer for a cruise vacation, I could totally seeing it being worthwhile for a parks vacation where it's hot & humid and all the ladies are fighting their hair from turning into great big balls of fuzz. There's options! And you don't even have to work to keep the frizz tamed!

It's a life-changer isn't it!? Yeah the worst part is the burning eyes during the drying part, but it's SO worth the cost! It wears off on me after about 2 months though (even with sulfate-free shampoo and washing only every other day) so I have to deal with a couple months of slight frizz before I can afford to get a new treatment (I get it done twice a year)

It really is! I woke up this morning, walked in the bathroom, looked at myself in the mirror, and thought I had to still be dreaming. My hair looked like freakin' models in beach photo shoots: long, slight wave, a bit tousled, ZERO frizz. Instead of combing or brushing I ran my hands thru the hair until it was all tangle free and it looked incredible. I don't usually wash my hair but every 3rd or 4th day because it gets so dry. I did buy the Brazillian Blowout shampoo & conditioning masque along with a Bumble & Bumble daily type conditioner and a leave-in conditioner. ((Add in my younger son's haircut with that tab & I was trembling a little signing the receipt. Yikes! Largest salon bill I ever had, obviously.)) The stylist said to only use the masque once a week and use the daily stuff any other time. I'm still amazed at my hair. It's like some other person's really awesome hair, not mine. The blowout is totally worth it to make life with long hair livable. Truly.

I stopped getting my nails done every 2-3 weeks a long time ago. Didn't stick with the whole waxing routine either (my skin stayed way too sensitive for days and days after o_O). I'll gladly pinch pennies, cook a meal or two extra every week to save eating out, etc. to make the blowout happen every 2-3 months if I can. It's incredible. Truly a life-changer...which I know sounds so cliche because the stylist kept saying that and I was all --> but I totally get it now! :p

Getting pretty for disney is fun! Im a cosmetologist so im always doing fun things with my hair. I like to add different colors before I go to disney . One year I even put these glittery tinsil pieces in my hair that you tie in and they stay for a couple weeks. I got lots of compliments on them and I plan on doing that again.
