Here's my 10-minute WDW "beauty regimen." The "packing list" necessary for it includes 12 items: toothbrush and toothpaste, body lotion, facial moisturizer, deodorant, comb, foundation, powder, lip gloss, eyeliner pencil, eyelash curler, and mascara.
- Shower/shave legs. Step out of shower and towel-dry hair.
- Brush and floss teeth. Apply body lotion (with sunscreen) and deodorant. Catch view of self in mirror and vow not to order dessert today. Get dressed.
- Comb and part hair, and tousle with fingers. Allow to air-dry, styling with hands as needed, for the next hour. (Your mileage may vary: I have thick, coarse hair that is typically cut into a or bob, so it needs almost nothing in terms of styling.)
- Apply facial moisturizer (containing sunscreen).
- Apply a light coat of foundation and powder. (Skip this step if you don't have heavily blemished and scarred skin, as I do.)
- Apply tinted lip gloss (with protectant) or Chapstick. Curl eyelashes and apply subtle eye makeup, if desired (I like the pencils with an eye shadow on one end and eyeliner on the other) and waterproof mascara.
- Do nothing with the nails. (I don't bother with fingernail polish -- I keep my fingernails a medium length, and well manicured, but I don't want the daily hassle of nail polish upkeep. For my toes, a couple of coats of a good non-chipping polish will hold me for the week, even in and out of socks and sneakers).
- Walk away, feeling rather fabulous, and have a wonderful day. Eat all of those desserts anyway. Unless going out to a fancy dinner, don't bother to reapply anything except sunscreen. Let your Florida-sun-kissed skin and smile be your most beautiful assets.
*A "park-touring beauty" tip for those who don't want to invest in oil blotters for their face: I used to buy them, but I've found that I can accomplish just as much with an ordinary restroom paper hand towel. Simply take a clean dry one, press it lightly to your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin in turn (hold it there for a couple of seconds, without rubbing), and it will absorb the oil from your face, without removing your makeup, in exactly the same way as a blotting paper.
