Snow White to Close Thursday, May 31

Not to steal Ben's thunder at all, but I can recall a conversation from a few years ago where we explaiend to my autistic brother about Jungle Cruise potentially being closed on a particular visit. We explained that it would come back on the next visit, it just wouldn't be there on this visit. While the rumored refurb wound up not happening, it still upset him. We had to explain to him that it was broken and "the man needed to come fix it". Matt (my brother) then quickly told us that it was closed in 1987 and didn't need to close now.

Ben needed to see it for it to be real to him, it will be interesting to see if something else develops as a new favorite.

Steal away, I didn't mean to dominate this thread. It's just kind of near and dear to my heart for obvious reasons. Your brother sounds awesome!

Well, your brother and Ben's experiences do put a good sense of perspective on my crying over lost rides. For one, it always means more to somebody else, and secondly, I should also count my blessings, instead of cultivating my losses.

Also, I'm still crying over Horizons fifteen years later, and Ben took what was much more important to him like a man.

Hmmm....

There's a lesson in there for me somewhere.

Neither of you stole thunder or dominated this thread! I thank you both for sharing these stories and bringing autism into view for several people in a very real and relatable way to folks on this site.

More links for you - my friend Robert captured Ben's visit with Snow White on video and also took some great pictures. You can see them at:

Actually made me cry! Hope he still enjoys the parks! Sounds like he is coping well! Its sad that their really is not anything similar to it anymore guess the pooh ride is the only one! Hope you and your family are doing well! I remember you saying at one point someone was going to make some kind of documentary about bens experiances is that still happening? I personally think this is the best ever disney magic story, we told the hwole family and everyone got a tear in their eye! thanks again for sharing it wil us all! :)

I wish there was some way they could've reimagined SW or rethemed it somehow instead of getting rid of it altogether! But, I guess we'll just have to wait until the mine ride is completed to get a glimpse of SW reborn.:(

That was neat of Disney to do that for Ben. Snow is my favorite princess as well. Hopefully he will find another ride that gives him the same joy. Thank you for sharing your story.

It's not the same but maybe you could try Alice in Wonderland ride or Mr Toads in Disneyland, kind of the same thing. That was the most touching thing I saw. I really wish he could get a piece of the ride!

We would very much like to take him to Disneyland. We've been afraid of taking a long plane ride, but he is much better now about staying calm and quiet. Actually, we'd *really* love to take him to Paris. Well, and Tokyo. Who wants to kick in to a special fund to take my kid to every Disney park in the world? :)

We do have Snow White as well in California. It is a little different than the MK version but it is the original.

I am sure he would love DL and I bet he would love the brand new Cars Land as well. If I was wealthy I would donate to the fund but Unfortunately I am not. :)
