Hope you come back soon!@21stamps I think it's time to take a break from these boards for a while...
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I was suggesting it was time for her to take a break. Sorry, next time I'll make my post easier to understand.Hope you come back soon!
I guess we will have to agree to disagree.I'd see your point if they personally were starting threads to talk about their latest adventure, but I've yet too see that. Every one has been in response to someone saying they are a waste of money/dangerous business practice. And they offer a counterpoint from their experience. That's how discussions typically work.
If I was as rich as some of of these people sound, I would be vacationing on a deserted island, at a real deluxe resort.if i was as rich as some of you sound i would be disgusted by the types of people and the sheer volume of them in the parks....im far from rich so i deal with it.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
But if the island had a deluxe resort on it would it still be classed as deserted ?If I was as rich as some of of these people sound, I would be vacationing on a deserted island, at a real deluxe resort.
No. It would be a resort on an inhabited island. You could take your mega yacht to a deserted island and bring a pod though..and a butler and staff. I guess that would be a deluxe vacation on a deserted island. But if the island had a deluxe resort on it would it still be classed as deserted ?
Obviously one must be a multi millionaire to vacation at a Disney resort. They couldn't possibly be Middle or Upper Middle Class. If I was as rich as some of of these people sound, I would be vacationing on a deserted island, at a real deluxe resort.

Did I miss something?Hope you come back soon!
Great point: OK an island that only had a Rockefeller Resort on it.But if the island had a deluxe resort on it would it still be classed as deserted ?
Is that what I said? No. But you don't even know the definition of disposable income, so why should I be surprised?Obviously one must be a multi millionaire to vacation at a Disney resort. They couldn't possibly be Middle or Upper Middle Class.

Disney World is an inanimate object. Its the people in the equation (including its leadership) that makes the experience what it is.Disney World is not horrible, the management is. Disney is worth going to, but they raise prices to pad the bottom line instead of building new attractions in a timely fashion to increase attendance. Up charge events are current managements version of new attractions and its getting ridiculous. And the "why do you still go if you despise it" routine is old hat and only the fools still throw that strand of spaghetti at the wall.
Some can see the bigger picture and then there are those who team up on these forums and combine to form this half wit, pixie dusted, deformed Voltron and defend the magically bad decisions, but instead of wielding a sword they trot out the same tired rebuttals that you mentioned above. Tale as old as time.
True, so what is your take on what the experience is evolving into? What will it be like in 3 years? It seems we are seeing more "priority boarding", up charge event on top of up charge event, and the subject of this very thread, price hikes galore.Disney World is an inanimate object. Very well said.True, so what is your take on what the experience is evolving into? What will it be like in 3 years? It seems we are seeing more "priority boarding", up charge event on top of up charge event, and the subject of this very thread, price hikes galore.
Im not saying the sky is falling and Disney will shut their doors. Im lucky to have visited enough that my wife and I enjoy the small things such as sitting at the top of the steps in Japan pavilion with a drink, having a turkey sandwich at Sunshine Seasons or seeking out that snack that is only offered in a certain park (I hope the carrot cookie comes back), but we also enjoy(ed) when there were EMH days at MK during a 7 day stay. Were lucky now if there is one. We enjoyed the discounts our AP's had in many locations, now its much more limited. I know things change. Maybe they will. We may have children one day. I know Disney World wont (and cant) be the same Disney i grew up with, but Id like their to be some remnants of it left by then.

My take on the experience evolving is that it is evolving so that it can stay relevant. I havent found one thing yet that I experienced as a kid that hasnt changed or gotten more expensive. Most everything is monetized now more than it was back then. Even in restaurants where a baked potato came loaded you now have to pay an upcharge to load it. You rarely find service stations (outside of a couple of states on the east coast where by law you cant pump your own gas) that has an attendant that will pump gas, check fluids, and wash your windshield. You have to pay to have thise services done when you get your oil changed.True, so what is your take on what the experience is evolving into? What will it be like in 3 years? I understand your point. And yes, everything is changing, everything is becoming as monetized as possible. Does that mean its the right thing to do because every other company is doing it? Are we becoming better as a society for decisions like that? In the end, your last sentence rings the most true. The company has decisions to make, as do you, I and everybody else. Nobody is forcing us to spend our money there. I just remember when I was younger and made less money and a Disney vacation was more affordable and less of a hastleMy take on the experience evolving is that it is evolving so that it can stay relevant. There may come a time that I cant afford to go to Disney because the cost gets to a point where I either cant afford it or I make a value decision. Either way, I dont think I will be wasting my time on a message board complaining about the company raising the price. The company has decisions to make just like I do. Im not forced to spend my money there and I dont feel entitled to an affordable vacation there.
