Snack price increases?

Three people doesn't have to mean three entrees and three drinks. We almost always drink tap water and can usually share an entree.

EDIT: And I'm a fat guy FWIW.

My husband would think I was nuts if I suggested sharing an entree. And he's not fat.

Sometimes my daughter and I share, but I get tired of always having to negotiate what we're going to get. It's not crazy to want to make a selection of my own.

how is the price increase of food items tied to people "overeating" by getting an entree and a drink?
The affordability of anything is a function of both price and quantity. Everyone wants to focus on the former while ignoring the latter, while the latter is the one that's directly in their control. What I'm saying is that three grown adults can eat a filling meal for far less than $45.

No, it's not crazy to "want to." But if we're talking about price increases jeopardizing someone's ability to afford a WDW vacation, sometimes you skip things that you might otherwise want to do. I might want to stay in the Kilimanjaro Club, but I decide the cost isn't worth it so I stay AKL Standard View.

but only if they want to share their meal and want the same items...and drink tap water. YES, you can make a meal of the condiments too and save even more money, but that is not the point...

This!!!

Everything is a choice. I downgraded my room less than 2 months before my trip, because I felt like the trip was getting a little out of hand...and I didn't think we would be in the room enough to justify it. That's not Disney's fault. It was my decision.

I travel as part of my job. When I compare what Disney offers their guests in a deluxe resort vs what I get at a Marriott, the Marriott wins. It's not just about the prices of food, it's about the quality of the food. I know that WDW is about location and that's what people are paying for, but the quality continues to diminish as the prices increase.

Well, we have different ideas about vacation. I want to have my own food. It doesn't have to be extravagant, I mean we are talking about counter service here. But I don't think it's out of line to expect to have reasonably priced things to eat. But then, I'm not even sure this is about having reasonably priced items. It's about Disney not increasing prices by as much as 33% in just a few short months.

Which Marriott has free-roaming giraffes outside the window? Which Marriott has a pool that looks like this?

Which Marriott has a lobby that looks like this?

Which Marriott has a sky-train that takes you directly to the Magic Kingdom?

Would "none" be an accurate answer?

The only time I ever had a Mickey bar was when they were included at the "Feel the Force" premium package at the parade viewing. So basically I only get them if they are part of an up-sale event. Otherwise to me they are a waste at any price. On man's trash is another man's snack....basically they just are not that good.
I can't stand them. Aren't they just fake ice cream covered in chocolate?

Yup just get a cup of hot water and squirt in some ketchup and voila, you have a meal.
Brilliant. You all are crying about a $5 ice cream bar, yet I'm the cheap one.

But why is it bragging when @21stamps is simply telling us about her vacation? Would you rather hear her say she had 7 in a room at ASMu? That her son slept in the tub because all the beds had bugs and they had to share one meal a day? Since when did everyone have to vacation or spend THEIR MONEY the same as others? Just because we vacation differently it doesn't make it wrong .
To be fair, this isn't a thread about @21stamps vacation so it is off topic.

Not that it matters much since most threads veer wildly off topic anyways.

You know what's funny?
You probably missed my post about the camel and his poor breaking back.

Hint: It's not about ice cream.

we get it...you want WDW food prices to be in line with what you would pay at a local restaurant. Right? Because that is the only way for their food to be reasonably priced. But we all know that is never going to happen. Prices will continue to rise here just like everywhere else on this planet...sometimes by a lot...sometimes by a little...

Disclaimer: This is not an endorsement of the price on their mickey bar...

You're missing the point. If your camel's back is breaking, it's YOUR FAULT for overloading him in the first place, long before the snack price increases.

Disney offers millions of configurations of vacations packages. They control price alone. YOU control frequency of visit, length of visit, time of year, mode of transportation, on site versus off site, which resort, which restaurants, etc. etc. etc. When price changes, you can pull any one of those other levers to make the cost fit within your budget. Or you can get a bigger camel.

No, that's totally unrealistic. And would be a big mischaracterization of my concern.

I just don't want the crazy spikes they have had over the past year.

People here aren't reacting to high prices. They are reacting to the breathtaking way in which those prices have spiked recently.

There's only one thing that will or will not endorse the price of a Mickey bar, and that's whether people buy it or not. If this was a 25% price increase, Disney will have made the correct decision if they see anything less than a 25% decrease in units sold. For me personally, my wife and I share one premium bar per trip and will continue to do so.

The Courtyard in Albuquerque.
Uh huh. In Albuquerque.
