I posed that in an earlier post. They could swipe your band and issue a warning and then adopt a “three strike” policy. That kind of enforcement gets this to work. “Sorry, you can’t smoke here”....doesn’t

It’d work for alcohol consumption as well.

Question is.....does it matter enough for Disney to unleash “smoke (or alcohol) commandos”

I've stated this many times. However, they'd lose too much money by limiting drinks. Now if the cigarettes were made or at least sold in unlimited quantity by Disney, we might not be seeing this.

I really don't think Disney cares about smokers - in or out of the parks...much like they don't care about the drinkers. This is all about PR.

So - forget about how one feels about the "policy".... This was ill timed, as WDW Management does not have a firm PLAN. And still does not.

Seriously looks like "Management Amateur Hour". Serious Policy shifts need to be thought out, to prevent chaos both internal to, and external to, a responsible Corporation. The CMs will be confused. The Public will be confused. VERY poor planning, execution :(.
Amen, and best post thus far, in this thread. Who cares they changed it. It is how it was executed with no idea how to implement.

People who smoke, won’t drink. The two go hand in hand. I don’t always drink, I don’t always smoke. If I have a drink, I do want to smoke. It will bite alcohol sales in the hiney. That is probably a good thing though.

Very good point. And a person who is belligerent about their smoking will likely be the same about their drinking.
I don’t think you get my point. I don’t have to do either. I rarely do either. Not selling alcohol hurts Disney’s pocketbook- thus the reason they let especially Epcot , be a drunkfest. It is a game to do it. Books are written about it. Lol

Oh, I absolutely got your point. I know many, many people who are just like you - they can take or leave the alcohol, but when they do drink, they generally want a cig, too (I definitely smoke more after I've had a few). And yes, I know about "drinking around the world" and "the Monorail crawl", lol. I agree that they might see a dip in liquor sales, and that it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing...last time we were at World Showcase at night during Food & Wine, all you could smell was booze and cologne/perfume.

For especially the social smoker, and drink and a cigarette go well together. If they can’t have one, they will forego the other.

I'm hoping they have the greatest, strongest hot coffee in the world. I smoke to combat my asthma, and in a pinch, I will need a pot of black caffeine. And I do mean 'a pot'. I refuse to rent a huge stroller to cart my industrial coffee urn around- and think of the length of the extension cord.
I was planning a day at Epcot- Does the Bacchus Fest only go on in the evening hours?

I still don’t think you get my point- With all due respect. I think it will be a good thing if it does inhibit the people who drink and act up. I love food & Wine but not at night. It is horrid. They should cut that back too, but as draybrook pointed out they make money on that.

After seeing someone comment that there are tons of CM smoking areas out of sight around the parks...that really convinced me that this is just a huge PR move (much like firing James Gunn). For all we know, they might just be performing an experiment to see if it's enforceable.
I have a friend who is a lawyer. Over dinner, he suggested that perhaps they were 'upping the tier' of their tiered entertainment, adding a tier on the top of the pile for the uberrich, and subtracting the working class slob tier at the bottom.
