Anyone have stories of not sleeping because they are going to WDW?

Last June I got three hours of sleep because I was so excited. Because we had to wake up at around 4 in the morning, I didn't sleep at all. I ran a mile or two later in the day, and even that could not prevent me from not sleeping.

Before this years trip, I must have gotten 3 nights of sleep in total during the week before we flew out.

And then 6 hours a night at WDW!

I still need a holiday from the holiday....

I went a few years ago on a hour and a half sleep and that was because I had to work the day of my trip.I worked 930a-3pm got my bags, brother, and headed to airport for a 5pm flight.

My brother has done no sleep as he works 3rds and he worked one night and we flew out around 3pm but he had to finish packing and do laundry so he didnt go to bed til like midnight the next day.

Mine isn't from being excited, but from staying up late to pack (never get that done head of time, and always work late the night before).

Then I'm lucky to get five hours a night when I'm there.

We left Detroit at 3 pm when the kids got out of school, drove straight through to WDW, arrived around lunch time, then spent the rest of the day at MK, which was untill around 8 or 9 pm (february). I was up for 36 hours or so. But to get the extra day for the kids at MK by not stopping was worth being a littl groggy.

Oh yes, pre-trip insomnia isn't uncommon in our house :)

And here's a similar story...

Our last trip, on our arrival at our hotel, it was too late to go to a park, so we just walked around the hotel, which was lovely.

However, the next morning, I woke up at 4am, and my stomach was in knots with excitment about our first day at the parks, so much so that I couldn't go back to sleep! The next morning, the same thing happened again! On both days, I'd booked a Mickey wake-up call, but it wasn't needed :ROFLOL:

My trip in Sept i did not get much sleep at all before we left. This is the second time i actually had a morning flight to go down to the world. From now on I will come in the night before. That way i can get a full day at the world.

We usually take a 7:40 AM flight from Cleveland, so we drive in from PA and stay overnight. I can't ever sleep that night-its just too exciting!

Strangest thing as I was on an agenda to do and see as much as possible. I just got back from a week-long trip. My last trip was 14 years ago in August 1993.

For the week I averaged about 4 hours or less of sleep a night and was on the go for 18-19 at best.

And the strangest thing -- I felt completely relaxed and refreshed when I woke up.

I know it's a vacation but if you want to do things you have to plan accordingly, and I did.

The week and a half leading up to my trip, I had a lot of work to do with my military side job and my fulltime TV gig, so when the vacation rolled around, I was ready. Sure in the weeks leading up to my vacation / holiday my mind would be on Disney and Universal, but I didn't lose sleep over it.

Hah I got maybe 4 hours of sleep the night before our last trip. My friend and I started text messaging each other about how excited we were at 5am.
Ohh that was a good day =)

I definately can never fall asleep the night before we leave for Disney. I'll try and have everything done and ready so I can go to sleep by 10 or 11:00, but then I lay down, and just think think think about wdw. I will be going through that again next saturday night before I leave sunday morning and I cannot wait!!!!

:sohappy:

I tend to be sleep deprived at disney! Go to bed too late and wake up too early so I can get in all the magic! By the end of my stay I am beat!:brick:

My last trip I was sleep deprived for over a month before I left. That's because I was going to "pop the question" on the trip and my girlfriend, now fiance, had no idea. She thought we were going so I could go to a work convention. I flew her family and my family in as an additional surprise (we are very close to our families and I wanted to share the fun with all of them) and we all spent the week together in FW Cabins, it was a riot!! But I was so nervous about every little detail before leaving there was no way I could sleep!!!

I'm finally able to sleep the night before Christmas and my birthday, but for some reason the night before leaving for Disney not a wink. My sister say's I'm like the dad in the commercial who says "can't sleep, too excited". I'm that dad!
