Hmmm...not the princess I was anticipating...

Oh, and greetings to all from Paris. DLP eats the MK for lunch (mostly).:D

You've got my vote on that claim! As much as I loved MK, visiting DLP was just a swept-off-my-feet experience. We can only hope SDL receives that kind of love...
Anyway, back on topic...

And it will.

Here goes: Everything you see now will be gone. All new buildings will be erected and theamed around a certain princess with very long hair. :animwink: A tower and other elements of the area will take the duty of blocking the view of the HM show building. An additional path on the back side of Yankee Trader will flow through to the area near the merchandise cart by The Haunted Mansion which will be relocated to allow this. When all is said and done it will look like it's always been there and perfectly fit in the area.

Well how 'bout that. I get another one right. Well the theme at least if not the configuration and the area being repurposed as restrooms. But it is perfect for hiding the HM show building. I'm hoping they budget this properly because it could set the stage for making the MK FL the best in the world.

Yes, I finally agree with JT's optomism here. If dont correctly I can't see an arguement how Mk's FL will not be the best. Besides the facades for a few attractions.

So the newest rumor going around has the new area themed to the PatF. Interesting and the location seems viable. So I guess they could keep the clock tower and add Rapunzel as some, including myself, have speculated or create a PatF themed area or even something else at this point. Personally I think Rapunzel works better here for continuity with the PatF better suited for the RoA area. And there was a large unused area in the new drawings near the HM that could be used for a PatF m&g.

Very very interesting when these rumors are added to the new rumors about the firehouse and with the addition of the new M&M m&gs.

It makes sense, given the round (turret shaped) corner of the north building shown on the site plans.

answers this question?:

Is the clock tower staying (and hopefully being fixed) or also getting demo'd??

Pretty much. The new plans show a turret-style structure, which would match the long-haired princess theme better than an old Bavarian clock tower.

I'm trying to think about how I'd take it if I were the princess whose designated area of the park was the crapper

Rumors about the firehouse?

I hope so, I would like for atleast some of the skyway station to stay, along with the theme and look.

Great, I have been jealous of DL's tower ever since I saw pictures of it. And I wouldn't take it too bad, the area will get a lot more foot-traffic than the area she located prior.

I too remember the skyway vividly. Rode it dozens of times on multiple trips both as a child and as a teenager. It closed when I was in college.

I never liked Mr. Toad's Wild ride. People's nostalgia wins out on that one. No one will ever convince me that it was a good ride.

Alien Encounter and Timekeeper were my two favorite all time extinct attractions at the MK. The audio tracks on MWW always remind me of how much I enjoyed the well written story in both. Timekeeper was the victim of a type of attraction not many care for (360 vision) and Alien Encounter was just in the wrong park. If AE was in Hollywood Studios it is my opinion it would still be there today.

AE would have been a perfect fit for DHS. Good call.

So Lee and Raven don't know or work with each other? Fun to see Raven break some news and Lee not know anything about it. I thought you guys were on the same page on all of this news.

Be interesting to see the area when it's done. Tangled is a really good Disney movie and deserves something devoted to it. (as does Princess and the Frog but thats for another thread).

The only thing that slightly irks me is that I liked that the HM used to be so isolated. It added to the mystery and spookiness. First we have the playground queue and now a path leading directly to it. I'll reserve judgement until I see the area finished of course.

In lee's defense he said he was in Paris. Even these days news would still travel faster stateside than over seas. I agree about the HM being isolated and adding to the spookiness, but they really have no option at this point. When there is 60,000 people in the MK you will feel the same way at this area, it can get really bad. The MK will feel much much more open and spacious when all of the FLE expansion is done. I can't wait for what it does for capacity!

But would it be Star Wars themed?

Is Indiana Jones Star Wars Themed?

I view a LucasLand similar to how many people envision the future of Pixar Place. It will be a combination of many very different elements that fall under the Lucas (or in the case of Pixar Place, Pixar) Umbrella. It was rumored that George Lucas had input on Alien Encounter, hence it's placement in that area.

Not one of my favorites, but I'll take it over a derelict skyway station. Sounds like they're at least doing this thing right.

Certainly in some ways it does. Enjoy! And take a last ride on Star Tours I for us!

 Agreed. Was looking at the DLP castle model at OMD last night and was lamenting how cool that park is. Ride Crush's Coaster for me! Hands down my fave Disney ride.

Quoted to send more love to Crush's Coaster. Maybe not be favorite Disney ride, but certainly in the top 3 or so.

DLP is in a horrendous state of disrepair, decay and abandonment. It was gorgeous 10+ years ago, but it's a deteriorating second-thought by the French-based company that mismanages it. I'll take Cinderella Castle and TDO's TLC for their centerpiece any day over the misbegotten, left-for-dead landscaping and empty lots of the entire DLP resort. Maybe someday...

I actually thought the landscaping at DLP (but not WDSP) looked great last summer. Operations, though, were horrendous, with rides breaking down, closing early/opening late with no warning, capacity not used in full, etc.

I only asked that because a) the only connection I could make between Alien Encounter and George Lucas, and thus justifying placement in a LucasLand, would be the fact that it had something to do with space, and b) I was unaware that Senor Lucas contributed creatively to the ride. (Though I can't find anything confirming what, if anything, he actually contributed to it.)

But thanks for the snark.

The thing I noticed most in 2009 was the huge amount of trash everywhere. Everywhere. I recall some topiaries in Fantasyland being overgrown, but I don't remember any landscaping issues beyond that. I just remember trash in the walkways, on the streets, in the queues, and in the bushes and planters. It's like custodial CMs don't exist in Paris.

Sorry, re-reading that I did come off snarky - I apologize.
