Some good news though, the Earth Globe barge was going to removed from the show for rehab starting in June, but now they pushed it back to October.

I hope they change the name. I think Sky Dance is a pretty lame name, especially for the creative minds of Epcot. Reflections of Earth > Sky Dance. One sounds like an Epcot name the other, just a random firework show name. Then again, they are both better than "Dancing for Joy".

How about, *drum roll* Disney's Illuminations: Reflections of Earth II. Disney's pretty good about doing sequels. :D

I think Sky Dance is a good name.

Are you serius?!?!
It was originally scheduled for this past Jan and ot got pushed back almost a year?!?!
Maybe they will come up with a spectacular replacement for the 25th.

Oh by the way, I am a RoE geek:) and am able to imagine different devices being used in place of the current ones without even watching the show.

He said june, so they must want to hold off until summer is over (if this is true).:)

How long was the Earth Globe refurb supposed to take? Maybe they'll go RetroCot and bring back the original IllumiNations from October 1 to New Years? No Globe required for that. Is a temporary replacement out of the question? Of course that means that Disney would actually have to acknowledge Epcot's 25th...at least enough to make it an excuse for the absense of RoE.

Now THERE`s a thought

-although the laser globe would be needed to do it properly... I wonder if Mouse Surplus has one spare..... :D

They could always steal the globes from Universals 360 show for a few weeks.

For once, you would be able to actually "see" what the image is.

Holy thread bump, batman!

Before the flame brigade brings the blowtorches,

SkyDance is the rumored replacement for the Reflections of Earth version of Illuminations (and, had BETTER STAY THAT WAY. :fork: :D )

Not even really true.

All SkyDance is is the name of a show that the creator of Illuminations has listed on his website. It is not known what it is for, or even if its for Disney.

As far as 'better stay that way' - RoE has to get replaced sometime. Better to do it when Siemens is willing to spend money than to wait 5 years when they won't. But SkyDance isn't the greatest name. Even adding a 'the' makes it quite a bit improved. As in 'Illuminations - The SkyDance'

It seems there may be some kind of validity to this.

Hopefully sooner than later :lookaroun

BITE THY TONGUE!

Seriously, though, I know ROE will go bye-bye eventually. I just found it to be the best show and very in line with the classic Epcot feeling. Currently, it is my favorite attraction on property across the board. The music and the sheer creativity is top notch. In my opinion, unrivalved by any show I've seen on property and anywhere except Remember. It also has the need to see it multiple times to pick up on the subtleties. I guess I feel it made it into the classic attraction category, although I certainly could see some updating be appropriate. I am just a bit confused because going from an extremely lofty, well executed "modern art" version of explaining evolution of our planet to dancing in the sky seems to leave something desired. I just don't see how it could have the gravity or impact even from that title alone. But, as you have said, it could easily be a working title instead of a show title, so who knows what's next.

I personally would love to see it constantly evolve sort of like we are seeing with Mansion. But, I know that is a pipedream. :D

I heard as far back as '05 that come '09 ROE would be history. Its been a fantastic show and a fantastic run but its time to move on and bring something new in.

Now, ROE will not make me drive 8 hours to Disney (letalone move there for 3 years :lookaroun ) whereas a new fireworks show will. :D
