Skydance announcement?

RoE is scheduled to run through 2009. The SkyDance rumor has been around for more than a year. CMs know as much as we do about future projects and it would not be announced to them before it would be to us.
I don't think that any show can approach RoE's magnitude as a show about human progression, NOT fireworks. I don't know how DIsney can replace a show like this with a collage of compositions such as in previous IllumiNations.

Harry Potter ride anyone??:p

How about Harry Potter fireworks? Maybe there will be sky dancers on brooms...

The whole thing about Sky Dance being ready for Epcot's 25th sounds fishy. I know someone around here said the show could be ready by October 1, but if Disney wanted to do it right, they'd wait until the show was really ready in a few years. I don't really understand why everyone seems so ready for RoE to be retired. It's still a great show, still pleases the crowd, and still tells its story. Just because its been running for almost eight years doesn't mean it needs to be pulled ASAP. (I'm not saying ti should run for another 25 years, but the show's not horribly outdated or anything.)

And after six or seven years, I highly doubt they'd pull Tapestry of Nations out of the ashes (as much as a I loved that parade). Unfortunately, the Millennium Celebration is over, and the Tapestry parades are long retired. Starting it up again (and claiming that it merely went on hiatus for seven years) is tacky. Besides, didn't the pupptets give the performers back problems (or is that just a legend)?

As far as making Sky Dance worthy of replacing Reflections of Earth, they could start by hiring Gavin Greenaway to write the original score. RoE's music is nothing short of amazing (as I'm sure we'd all agree).

RoE was signed to run for 10 years, begining October 1999. The show will at least be around until then. Skydance, as many have stated, is the wildly and very far from proven codename given to the show that will be RoE's successor.

CMs will know about a new show about the same time its released to the public. New information about upcoming events, attractions, rides, etc. have always been on a need to know basis. Those who know of a new show coming to World Showcase right now are ones who would never reveal or leak any information.

RoE has a very special place in my heart. Its going to be a VERY tough show to replace. The score needs to be original, unique, and tell an amazing, meaningful story.

Just wanted to state that there has been no mention of either an Illuminations replacement or a return of any Tapestry parade in either the general Cast newsletter (Eyes and Ears) or the Epcot-specific cast newsletter (Epcot This Week).

Someone on Mousegeeks stated that this was announced in a cast member newspaper as being up and running for EPCOT 25th. They also stated a "RUMOR" about a possible return of "Tapestry of Nations". Oh how I wish!!!!!
Yes, that's where i saw it. I pop in there every now and then, but this is home!

Well, that settles it then, I had a feeling it was just a figment of a 17 years olds imagination. :brick:

Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't know if a trip to the World will be the same without ROE.

BTW: In one week I'll be heading out for the inagural Medit Cruise!! :sohappy:

Yeah, I'm probably literally going to cry whenever RoE's final curtain falls. It's my "Horizons" or "Mr Toad." I mean -- when you stand alongside the lagoon and "cue" the different buildings to light up during the show, you obviosuly have a certain mental attachment to it.

But if we must move on, there are a few things that will have to happen in order to "top" RoE (at least in my opinion)...

1) Earth Globe with the new hologram-style technology being showcased on the globe at Project Tomorrow / SSE. Maybe that one is just a test for Skydance, since SSE and RoE are both a Siemens sponsorship? :lookaroun
2) They'll have to keep some incarnation of the original music. Maybe a bit of reorchestrating and such, but it's gotta stay similar -- especially the "celebration" part. Probably my favorite piece of music. Period.
3) Gotta keep the thousand points of light / firefly type ending.

Wow, I cannot imagine ROE being replaced. The greatest firework show on Earth, and so much more than a firework show on so many levels. It's incredible. I would definitely want Gavin Greenaway to compose the next show's soundtrack. I mean ROE will have to be replaced eventually, what a woeful day it will be. Unless they do it right, then it could just be full of joy -- not jumping for joy, ouch tacky title.

I am certainly not saying I want it to go. I love RoE as much as anybody, My absolute favorite show. :sohappy:

I agree with this also, I just would love to see it again.

Yes I did actually. It used to be cac2889. I asked Steve to change it a few weeks ago. Very observant! :)

Been there, done that!

Oh man...been there, done that, own the home version. I've seen the show so many times it got to the point where I could actually tell where the show was by the succession of booms from the fireworks. I didn't even have to see them. :lookaroun

I hope they change the name. I think Sky Dance is a pretty lame name, especially for the creative minds of Epcot. Reflections of Earth > Sky Dance. One sounds like an Epcot name the other, just a random firework show name. Then again, they are both better than "Dancing for Joy".

How about, *drum roll* Disney's Illuminations: Reflections of Earth II. Disney's pretty good about doing sequels. :D
