Who is doing their animatronics? Same as the Kong guys? (Their JP exhibit in Australia is amazing)

That's why every single gift shop in NYC has little statues of varying sizes of Kong on the Empire State Building. Yup. He hasn't stood the test of time at all.

you misread - i said the movie effects dont stand the test of time. the actual kong story does of course. but it has to be remade to stay relevant as such. imagine if king kong hadnt been remade by Peter Jackson.. alot of kids wouldnt know what kong is...

I'm not sure I buy that. I grew up without the Peter Jackson version, but I had already heard of King Kong years before I actually sat down and watched the original film. Same goes for other old characters like Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. Kids would become familiar with them in some shape or form, even without seeing the source material. And just like me, I think many of them can eventually find an appreciation for such old films, outdated effects and all.

I wouldn't say HP was nostalgia. The last movie was out in 2011.

It doesn't have to be old to be timeless or nostalgic. In fact, the definition of nostalgia also includes simply the feeling of nostalgia- "Something that elicits or displays nostalgia". I didn't grow up on Harry Potter- and as a 32 year old- it should have been in my wheelhouse but wasn't- I didn't care that much, just watched the movies (but was never a fan). Now I am due to the parks- and watching my kids in Diagon Alley gives me a greater feeling of nostalgia than them riding it's a small world for the first time.

I don't think I ever saw the Kong movie the original ride was based on. But I loved the ride, what's not to like about a giant ape destroying New York.

If they brought back the Island Skipper Tours, they could add Jaws back in as a little fun extra rather than a full-on ride. Maybe it wouldn't even attack the boat on every ride...maybe just sporadically throughout the day (once an hour or so).

I would rather wait for a proper Jaws ride, which I think is more likely than many people think with the way Comcast is funding projects these days.

If a Jaws ride used technology like the new Pirates ride in Shanghai...it could be incredible. Imagine your boat "sinks" because Jaws took it down? Now you're in the water with the beast. Could be pretty incredible.

Perhaps. Although I think the underwater atmosphere works better in a more mystical sense. But I am with you. I would love to see the concept brought back but plussed and a bit more aggressive(utilizing suspense) for audiences who have seen so much.
