Not saying they can't and won't, but they would not be as popular as Harry Potter. No comparison in fan bases when it comes to Jaws and HP or Star Wars.

jaws just doesnt need a remake which is the difference, it has stood the test of time, which is something Kong hasn't sadly. Kong will constantly need remakes due to the nature of the CGI needed.. and eventually it looks dated.

Jaws was done so cleverly that it never looks dated, the shark still looks real. watching it on Blu Ray is still an incredible experience.
That's why every single gift shop in NYC has little statues of varying sizes of Kong on the Empire State Building. Yup. He hasn't stood the test of time at all.

Like I said, every ride can't be Harry Potter or Star Wars. There aren't many other franchises as big as those two. Star Trek has a notoriously loyal and vocal fanbase and the rides in Vegas closed down eventually. IP isn't everything. You said you skipped Jaws before it closed but I doubt it's because the IP is outdated, probably because the ride itself was outdated, right?

Little of both, but Jaws can only really be done with an actual boat on water. So how much different will a new ride be? I love BTTF and ghostbusters, but I would much rather a Godzilla or Jurassic World ride.

Well, Pirates in Shanghai is an updated boat ride, and Universal would come up with something more intense than that. I mean we're in a post Spiderman world. Not saying I want a Jaws ride anyway, I just don't think every ride has to be tied to a HP level property. That's the reason we ended up with Avatar and Frozenstrom.

Not saying it needs to be either, just way more things out there then a movie made in the 70s. I get nostalgia, but I don't think that really works in theme park rides.

I would say nostalgia is the reason HP was so huge. So it can work but that's the only example we have to go on. I agree that there are so many more things out there.

Of course but it has spanned a long time with the books and movies. Kids today still read and watch the movies where as Jaws and BTTF are not really known by kids today.
