Trip Report Sixth Sense - " I see a LOT of people" - a Max Trip Report - COMPLETED

Hello All
Welcome to my first trip report in almost 3 years.
I will spare you the usual sob story of how vacations were booked and cancelled due to - you know - that thing we do not like to talk about much anymore.

Above from Left to right we have Stephanie (DD) , Tricia (DW) and Cassie (DD) in the front row
And Jordan (SIL), me ( Max, Andrew, Drew, Clarence) and Shane.

The last trip for me and Tricia was Nov 2019 to Disneyland.
The entire group last went in Dec 2018 to WDW.

The 2018 trip was a celebration of Steph and Jordan being engaged (married on Oct 5, 2019)

This trip we have another engaged couple!!

Shane popped the question in March 2022 and Cassie of course said yes!

Dates - Sunday Oct 2 - Sunday Oct 9
Stayed at the Dolphin - three separate rooms for the three couples

The title you ask?

Well six people went to WDW and arrived just a few days after a hurricane blew through - we thought crowds might dip - boy were we wrong!!

I'm going to have to concede early in the game. I've googled (cheated) all of the dates, and numbers on that train pic and can't find any significance to anything Disney, except Walt's love of trains.

Day 2 MK contd
After lunch and the parade we decided to get out of Dodge - we were tired , frustrated and hot - it was hot for us Canucks

Stopped by the firehouse on the way out as others were using the washroom

Caught part of the parade from a different view point

Day 2 cont’d
Forgot to mention that we did a grocery store stop on the way back to the dolphin

Cassie ( @MiniMax ) remembered that we have to buy the "cookies"
This was touching because these Sandies (not available in Canada) became a Disney trip tradition when the girls were younger

Took a pic of this shelf in the room near the sink - thought it was a good use of space

Tricia and I went to the pool area and passed these

and now the Max Rant:

I was really looking forward to using the pool and the hot tub to help out with my ankle
When we arrived we picked up towels and we told that 3 hot tubs exist ( all relatively small - 6-8 people) but only two were operational
Ok - not bad - the middle one was drained and fenced off but the RH tub and LH tub were full of water

But the RH tub has no jets.- Just a nice warm bath with strangers

So I walked over to the other tub and found that it was running
When I got back T had given up and grabbed a lounger
So I walked back on my own to the left hot tub and hung out for a bit

Later in the week I went back (han) solo and found that all 3 hot tubs were not working
1 drained and 2 without jets

So i had to walk over to the Swan to use a hot tub

Normally this would be a minor irritation but I was limping at this point so it was not cool

Rant over.

So to sum it up

1) Poor maintenance and upkeep of hot tubs at the Dolphin.

2) My hair is no longer red but I do walk gingerly.

Yes , the ironing board was a Snack Bar

Tricia had a girls weekend in Toronto and they went next level

They used it as a Bar Bar!!!

I like the original silver and blue Cinderella's castle colour scheme better than the current

The pink has grown on me but I totally agree - I would be quite happy if they painted it back after the 50th.

This is a tragedy. The #1 problem with Pop Century was that there was no hot tub. We Canadians need our hot tubs even if it is 30 degrees out Not to mention the warm bath with strangers.

The Swan / Dolphin :

You are paying a high cost for a non Disney hotel ( I think we average $380 a night per room - booked 3 rooms)
But you are getting a great location in proximity to the Boardwalk, Epcot and DHS
But the level of service (check in / housekeeping/ care factor) and amenities ( no working hot tub and bus service for example) do not align with the cost.

Tricia and I agree that we are done with these hotels after 2 attempts.

Day 2 - back to MK for the evening

We all made our way back separately to the MK for our dinner
Bus service was not great but got worse
We were taken to the TTC and dropped off there - instead of at the park entrance
Need some help here - I thought we were dropped off at the park in 2018
This caused a very stressfull rush for T and I to make it to our dinner
The other four were waiting and not happy
But we made it with minutes to spare

The girls were in good spirits (and the spirits had not even arrived yet!!)

Our server was on point - great puns all night
I did not take food picks - not sure if @stephmax975 or @MiniMax took any

After a tasty dinner we looked at Tip board and made the plan to stand in long lines to get some rides in tonight

First up was Pirates with a posted time of 60 min - which turned out to be 35
I downloaded the Heads Up game and we played it in line - it really helped pass the time with a group of 5 adults yelling clues to another adult who normally looked like this..

The ride was great as always - did not do well with the ride photo - Shane is the closest to nailing it.

We were stopped in front of the jail scene and I think I got my best pic at this spot ever - @fractal - what do you think ?

Swan and Dolphin used to drop off at MK. The change to TTC came within the last year.
