Trip Report Sixth Sense - " I see a LOT of people" - a Max Trip Report - COMPLETED

Hello All
Welcome to my first trip report in almost 3 years.
I will spare you the usual sob story of how vacations were booked and cancelled due to - you know - that thing we do not like to talk about much anymore.

Above from Left to right we have Stephanie (DD) , Tricia (DW) and Cassie (DD) in the front row
And Jordan (SIL), me ( Max, Andrew, Drew, Clarence) and Shane.

The last trip for me and Tricia was Nov 2019 to Disneyland.
The entire group last went in Dec 2018 to WDW.

The 2018 trip was a celebration of Steph and Jordan being engaged (married on Oct 5, 2019)

This trip we have another engaged couple!!

Shane popped the question in March 2022 and Cassie of course said yes!

Dates - Sunday Oct 2 - Sunday Oct 9
Stayed at the Dolphin - three separate rooms for the three couples

The title you ask?

Well six people went to WDW and arrived just a few days after a hurricane blew through - we thought crowds might dip - boy were we wrong!!

Day 1 contd
We left off finishing up Living with the Land.
We received a room ready text and headed back to Dolphin

I was hobbling a bit ( and not due to beverages @wdisney9000 ) and was using the cane
This sign seemed appropriate

As we walked up to the hotel another guest pointed out these two sitting on top of the swan
@fractal would have gotten a much better picture of the eagles

Those eagles looked good but these Eagles are looking even better

We were able to get Cassie and Shane into their room - Steph and Jordan's room took a little longer
(perhaps @MiniMax or @stephmax975 can provide better info)

Tricia and I chilled in the room and then went down and grabbed food at Bluezoo lounge
Flatbread for me and balsamic brussel sprouts for T
and of course drinks but I did not record any details (zombie life on travel day)

Shane and Cassie went back to Epcot and sent me these pictures

Day 1 cont’d

Steph and Jordan were nice enough to take pictures of their room ( we all had the same style)

The biggest issue with the rooms for me was the bathroom
The toilet and shower were shoe horned into such a small room that you could not open and close the door very easily if you were busy

And of course no balconies - Tricia mentioned that this is the biggest draw back for her - she enjoys coming back mid day and eating lunch on the balcony with a glass of wine.

Day 2 - Monday Oct 3 - MK day

Up early and ready for visitors - our room become the breakfast room for me, T and our daughters - Jordan ate breakfast in his room and Shane does not do breakfast.

We had to re arrange the furniture and use the ironing board in a unique way (Tricia's idea that worked out well)

We noticed that our view from one window was pretty good ( a balcony would have made it even better)

We assembled in the lobby early and realized the buses would not be running for awhile

so we drove the vehicle to the TTC and took the ferry..

I honestly cannot remember the last time I took the ferry - I know my daughters have never taken it before

I was talking with the CM on the ferry and asked which island was the CM Party Spot
They were confused so I asked them if they had set up an island to go after hours and have a bonfire and a party
They thought it was a great idea but it had not been done

First sight of the castle

Entry went smooth - I was slowly figuring out the metal detectors
If I took out my phone, wallet and cane and held them in front I was usually good
I always beeped but they would wave me through.

Chiming in!!
Jordan and I ended up having to hang out with the parents for a bit while we waited for our room to be ready. We originally felt too tired to walk back to Epcot and told Shane and Cassie that we'd be staying at the Dolphin. However we didn't find any food that caught our interest so back to Food and Wine we went!

We went back to Epcot to pick up some snacks for dinner. We were both too hungry so I'm sorry we didn't take pictures of the food
Jordan got the Teriyaki Chicken Bun from Japan which he was very happy with.
I ended up trying the plant based meatballs at Earth Eats. (Impossible Meatball with Herbed Polenta, Rustic Puttanesca Sauce and Basil Pesto)
The sauce and polenta were both lovely. The meatballs themselves were good but not my fave fake meat.


We then ventured over to Test Track since Jordan wanted to see if we could get on it but surprise surprise, it was broken down.

We later found out the Shane and Cassie had also tried to go to Test Track.

So instead we ventured over to China and got the Passion Fruit Bubble Tea (non-alcoholic) and the Good Fortune Citrus (alcoholic)
Both were delicious.

The passion fruit bubble tea had the tapioca pearls (which I like) and the Good Fortune Citrus had the popping boba which Jordan likes.

At this point in time it was about 8:30pm and we didn't want to stick around for the fireworks so we power walked out of the park.

After some sleep deprived photos in the Dolphin we passed out to rest up before the MK day.

Both the Dophin and Swan have a number of rooms in each hotel, that have balconies. Were the balcony rooms all booked up when you put in your reservation? (I've stayed in both hotels -- in rooms with, and without, balconies. For me, it came down to how much extra I wanted to spend for a balcony room. Sometimes, I'd get a great rate, and other times not so much. Just depended upon how busy the hotels were during my dates.)

Day 2 - MK contd
It was great to be back in the Magic Kingdom
Took a few Halloween decoration pictues because this was the first time at WDW for this season
( I say season because it seems to start in August these days)

I wanted to rope drop Cordy Roy but the rest of the family were not interested

So we followed the crowd and waited at the Fantasy land rope drop point.

Day 2 - MK - cont’d
I forgot to mention that we got into MK around 8am - early entry is 8:30

As we were waiting by the Castle they shouted out that 7DMT was not going to start up for some time.

Our original plan was to go to PP since the boys had not experience it in 2018 and the rest of us wanted to see the queue.
We stuck with this plan (which in hindsight cost us a lot of time)

So off we went (with almost everyone else) to PP

@TMax spirits were still high considered we spent the entire 30 min of early entry in this line

Overall it was great to see the queue but the line was too long - again not having 7DMT working caused issue (for the entire morning)

Day 2 MK cont’d
So we continued out of Fantasyland - having only done 1 ride as of 9:30

We decided to head for Big Thunder - due to breakdowns the boys have never ridden it

Saw this in the queue and totally fanboy'd about it
Who knows why I love this picture?

@Darstarr - Bob C has figured out another way to get all of our money while at Disney

Selfie prior to boaring with most of us - Steph was beside me because we rode together - wait time was 20 min

@wdisney9000 - Shane is actually telling me that I am number 1!!

Wait times were rocketing so we headed back to FL and took my first pick of a 50th statue

I forgot to mention that while waiting for rope drop I heard someone say
"they have been celebrating the 50th for like, 5 years now"
I guess everything feels longer these days!!

Arrived at Little Mermaid - the queue on this ride is so well done (compared to DLR)

Day 2 MK cont’d
After our journey unda the sea we decided to take the high road...

But on our walk over we got this text - you know you messed up bad when you have to apologize to everyone in the park

The line up was substantial - it took approx 20 min to get on the ride

I will say it many times in this report - but there was no drop in attendance due to Hurricane Ian
Cassie was watching the app the week before and it was much busier
I cannot confirm but I heard one person say that Orlando schools were closed due to Ian so everyone came to WDW

Day 2 MK cont’d

So it was around 11am and we were getting hangry (hungry and a little angry about how busy it was)
The place was decorated for Halloween but it felt Christmas week busy!!

20/20 hindsight - I should have paid for Genie + on this day - with it being our only day at MK
I just struggle with paying for something that should have remained included in the park pass cost
Note: I did not say FREE - nothing is FREE at WDW - the cost to run the machines / app was always put into the cost of getting into the park. Now it is a case of the have and have nots - who is willing to pay a user fee to reduce line times

Walked thru the hub and took a few pics

for me it looks like one lady might have stolen a table cloth from Tony's and turned it into a dress!

We went to Pecos Bill - not Bills - and stood in line - this was the one and only time we did this - used the mobile order for counter services after

I had Chicken Tacos - I see a trend from yesterday's fish tacos - no @Zipadeelady - they were not burnt hot dogs

The parade started at noon near Splash - we had obstructed viewing from our lunch table
