Single Riders line-Pushing it?

In the beginning, I really likes the single riders line...
Now, I just kind of kind it annoying. I didn't mind the single riders line on Test Track, but now it seems like they're just throwing a single riders line in anywhere...

On Space Mountain, I saw a CM put a single rider in a seat, splitting up an entire party! They tried to explain to her, but she just got annoyed, and they ended up just going on a ride split up.(I'm starting to see where all of these rude CM at Space Mountain complaints come from) I understand that that was just one instance, but still...

Splash mountain was entirely pushing it...That's ridiculous, a complete stranger sharing a small little bench seat with you.

I just feel that Test Track was allright..but now they're putting these single rider lines in rides that simply don't need it...I don't think it's fair that families that wait a long time for rides should have to share their bench (in the instance of Splash Mountain-Which I heard they might have gotten rid of now, which makes me happy-is that correct?) with a rider who waited a small fraction of the time. Next thing you know, they're going to be putting a single rider line in something like Peter Pan:hammer:

I just feel like they're kind of pushing it..I'm kind of curious what ride they're going to make one for next.

How could you say that the single riders line at Test Track wasn't bad but Splash Mountain is bad. On Both rides, you have to sit next to a stranger so the Splash singles line isn't any different from the Test Track one except you are not separated by a seat belt.

When I first heard about the single rider lines, I thought it was a great idea! Why not make use of those empty seats and make the rides more efficient by filling in those spots?

I haven't been to Disney since the single riders lines have been added. However, when I went to Universal a few years ago, the only reason I got to ride the MIB ride is because they had a single riders line! I did not want to wait 120 minutes (that's a guess, I don't remember the actual wait time was) to get on the ride that would last a few minutes (if that!)

Our family of 4 went on the ride and all went in the single riders line. We didn't mind being split up if it meant that we didn't have to wait over an hour in line!

Now, maybe we didn't get the experience of riding it together. But none of us found that to be a problem. We were happy to sacrifice that in order to not wait all that time in line!

As I see it, when I'm at Disney, my LAST worry is sharing a bench with someone! I'm there to enjoy myself not to worry about who is sitting beside me! Oftentimes, I had lovely conversations with people at Disney due to sharing elevators, ride vehicles etc. and ending up meeting people from our area!

Without the single rider lines, people would complain that waits were too long! This is simply Disneys answer to that complaint. Unfortunately, it seems that no matter what they do, someone will be there to complain. Unfortunately they can't please everyone!
:hammer: :brick:

I have to agree. The last thing i want to do (my family has 7 people) is wait in line for Splash for over an hour, and then have some obese person who smells from the hot florida sun come and sit beside me and my me uncomforatable for 12 minutes (and take away the experience of the ride). Its different on rides where you're "farther" apart but Splash is too crowded.

The single rider line does shorten the lines, for small groups. For families, it sometimes makes the ride uncomfortable...
Someone can very well argue the other side that it's great, I was just bringing up the point that it sometimes can get uncomfortable for families, especially on a ride llike Splash Mountain....A single rider line on that ride is ridiculous..I just think Disney need to be careful which rides they decide to add a single riders line too..that's all.

I'm sorry that riding next to someone you don't know makes you uncomfortable. I would suggest that you or whomever is placed with someone they don't know be friendly to that new person. Ask them where they are from, how they are doing, things like that. Who knows you might have a chance to make a great new friend.

Hey, I got to WDW often by myself. The Single Rider Line is great because of that. The reason why the line was added is because some parties have an odd number of people in them. Now they can add the one extra person to make the seating even. No more empty seats.

If you don't like it, don't go in it. I have sat by a number of strangers and made great friends this way. The only problem with the line now is that people are starting to see that its shorter and a party will go into the line thinking they can get on it faster. Then they complain because they are split up. This defetes the whole purpose of the line and because of ignorant people like this, the system is slowing down.

Often the single rider line misses the preshow. I went on Test Track 2 years ago in the single rider line and was directed around the back of the preshow rooms. Fast, but I missed the whole show.

I think single rider lines are great, EXCEPT for Splash Mountain. Now I don't want a large guest who I don't even know sitting next to me inside a small space with no seperations at all. It's great for everything else though, like Space Mountain, Test Track, Mission: SPACE, etc., and even if you've got to ride with a stranger it sure beats waiting in a 120 minute line for Test Track or 90 minutes for SPACE.

I do like meeting new people, and I would have no problem talking to them...But sometimes I like to go on a ride with my family, and with a single rider being plopped down next to me on these rides every time, I wouldn't always enjoy it.
Not everyone enjoys sitting next to a complete stranger everytime they ride one of these rides. There are kids and teens that go on rides by themselves too, and they might feel even more unforfortable sitting next to a complete stranger.

I, for one, wish there were even more single rider lines. I usually ride the thrill rides alone anyways so this is a great time saver. And it also lessens the standby line wait time by a little bit usually. I can see how some would complain about the Splash Mountain one though. But for me anything to ride the rides with a shorter wait I'm all for.

Exactly. When I was in the Single Riders line for Test Track on Thanksgiving Day, there was a woman in front of me and my brother with her two older children and a small child. The two older kids went by themselves, and then she tells the CM that he's like only 3 or 4 and he needs to ride with his mom. So the CM lets those two people go. I felt like saying something but refrained from it. CMs who hand out the Single Rider tickets need to make sure any small children need to ride by themselves or don't ride at all.

Yes, I can see why people who ARE single riders might not agree, and they might want more single rider lines. I was just bringing up the point that it might get uncomfortable for families, especially with children, going on the rides.

And that is very annoying too when families split up on the single riders line, and then they demand to be together. I've seen this happen, and most of the time, Cm's let them go.

I used to think that handing out the passes for a single rider line was a waste of time and money. But I guess some people just don't think when they are on vacation. If you don't know about something there is a CM there for you to talk to. There is no problem with not understanding what the SRL is all about but there is a problem when you refuse to ask a CM about something and then you complain about it. It sort of reminds me of why Alien Encounter is closed right now...............:lookaroun
But I don't want to get into that here.

I can see your point about the children definately.

Disney can't help their guests' ignorance on the 2nd point though. If they don't know how a SRL works they don't need to be in it.

I see where you are coming from though. I just think they are good ways to save time, for those that know how to use them :)

Wow, you may even have to sit next to a total stranger on a WDW bus or the monorail or the WDW railroad. What is wrong with this crazy world?

No joke! I want to see a Single Rider Line for Fantasmic.
Maybe I'll get a better seat and get to sit next to someone that doesn't like strangers. Oh wait. That already happens.

Get over it! :)

I wish there are single riders lines for some attractions such as RNRC, and TOT, however the only problem is you would not get to se the preshow... hmm how to fix that problem........
(add them to rides with seats,)
