Think of it this way...would as many people watch if they had 3 people who were like Paula Abdul? Probably not. Having that wide range of personalities on the judging panel is what makes it great TV.

Plus, Simon is really the "enforcer" of the group. He's not afraid to beat around the bush and tell it like it is. You may not always like what he has to say (most don't), but the fact is that I usually agree with him, and his attitude is a big part of what brings in ratings

Well said, Fievel. I have a master's degree in music and I'm telling you that Simon has yet to miss the mark on anyone. He's being directly, painfully truthful in his assessments, and this is what makes for the good TV. I couldn't believe that Corey schmoozed up to Paula last night and made the cut. OK, America, vote his butt off when he shows up.
