I think this is the only project that doesn't have its own thread yet.

Orange Stinger closed on July 14, 2009 to start the re-theme to Silly Symphony Swings, inspired by the Silly Symphony Mickey's Band Concert. Silly Symphony Swings opens in Spring 2010

The history as well as a look at the original "bee seats" that the attraction opened with.

Concept Art- also look at the elevator tower, it has the same painting thats found at the Boardwalk Resort at WDW.

I'm really looking forward to this. That area looks a bit empty right now with the Orange gone, so I can't wait till they finish this up. The new multilevel boardwalk queue looks great.. i've also read that it will feature new lighting/sound effects - it should be quite fun :)

edit - just found this info posted by MoonRakerSCM, very similar to what i've heard so far

Well, from what I've heard/understood is that the ride will now actually have a sort of story to it.

When you get on it'll be a simple nice pier side swing ride, normal looking with soothing music. But then as it scales up the music will change into the Storm, lightning will flash, fog will spray about, and the image of the band in the tornado will be revealed in the center of the attraction...

from Disney's website:

Silly Symphony Swings is a new mechanical jewel at Paradise Pier that opens in Spring 2010. A new observation deck under the Swings provides shady views of Paradise Bay

Following the story of The Band Concert (1932), Mickey attempts to lead a barnyard orchestra during a twister. As the swings lift off the ground, the tornado appears to keep the band "swinging"!

Looking forward to observing this ride from far, far away.

I actually got sick WATCHING my husband kids ride the Orange Stinger. Next time, I'll wait for them on the other side of the lake.

It is coming along rather fast when is it expected to open?

The swings do not appear on the refurbishment schedule after April 28, Im guessing late April, since it will give them time to test and finish the queue and decks.

Oh and did anyone else notice the iPhone in the concept art? *thumbs*

lol yes to funny

Also insider67 is reporting the Mickey topper is on property somewhere. The swings will also have 2496 lights altogether.

awesome! I wonder if that number includes all the lights in the new boardwalk queue? This will help Paradise Pier look even more amazing at night, with all the glittering lights :)

Sorry usually I use the quote thing but forgot this time, but heres the post incase you missed it:)
All of the lights on SSS are incandescent.
Trivia time....Amaze your friends with your Disney knowledge. There are 2496 lights on the SSS Facade and undercanopy area. They lamped it all in one day and last night they were testing some of the circuits that are curently wired in. Looks nice but only small sections were lit up when I was out there. So the full effect was not in place.
One other thing I noticed...under the canopy is just a dark blue. There are no clouds currently painted onto the panels.

Also MainStreetJake posted a picture of the lights being installed

BEAUTIFUL. WOW. I love it already. Maybe it would have been classier with just a victorian-style ornamental paint scheme, though? I like that it tells a story, though.

Yeah, I like that they are adding a story as well. That alone is a big improvement over the Orange, not to mention the new boardwalk queue that is being constructed. Still left to be installed is the Mickey topper.

apparently there are LEDs above the canopy to light up Mickey, and under the canopy for the lightning effects. Should be great :)
