Sick at Akershus

All,

I booked Akershus as one of our meals due to the princesses, for my daughter. However, I was just reading the reviews on trip advisor and there were 4 negative reviews from the past 10 days for this restaurant. Complaints ranged from people vomiting all over, to hot dogs that were grey with green spots, to food poisoning. Has anybody eaten here before? Is it truly this bad? Should I cancel and maybe go to Via Napoli and try their evidently out of this world pizza pie? If so, what are some other great places to see the princesses at DW? My daughter loves Aurora. Thanks.

We ate there for breakfast with no problem. Do they even have a hot dog at Akershus? Maybe on the kids menu? Maybe those who were sick were sick with a virus before eating there? I find the trip advisor has more people on there to complain than to give praise. I always go on there to give both good & bad.

My husband & I ate there for lunch. We did not get sick, or notice anything wrong w/the food like spots. We ended up not liking the food, and probably wouldn't go back. But that was just our personal tastes, it wasn't actual problems w/the food.

I've only eaten there for breakfast two different times and didn't have a issue. I do not eat meat though so maybe that could be the reason. Sorry that you have gotten sick, maybe it was something in particular there you ate that didn't agree. :(

We didn't get sick but the food was inedible. There is a very bad stomach flu going around the country so I tend to take the food poisoning reviews with a grain of salt.

I have eaten there a number of times over the last 5 - 6 years - both breakfast and dinner - never had a problem.

In my opinion, the food is, well, lacking - and my grandmother was born in Norway, so I ate a lot of this stuff beforehand. It's not the dishes per se, but the preperation.

Not bad, but certainly lackluster (and as someone with a Norwegian background, it PAINS me to say that)

This struck me as odd. My wife got food poisoning at Akershus...the only time this ever happened at Disney...but that was 1999! Somehow I don't think you can draw much from that. The only reason we haven't returned is our lack of interest in Princess dining...not so much the food.

We had dinner there and my daughter had the hot dog with no problems at all. Like someone said there is a nasty stomach virus sweeping the country right now. I don't like when people automatically blame a restaurant of food poisoning especially in a place like Disney. All you need is one person to have a stomch virus and it is quickly spread and then food is blamed for it not the fact that you are in the petri dish of Disney. I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy yourself!

We had lunch there back in December and had no problems. In fact, most everyone loved the food. We're returning to Akershus for breakfast in August.

My DW and I have eaten there for both lunch and dinner. It is one of our favorites. We have never had any problems. It is the best place for princess interaction.
