Show me your Disney Christmas ornament

DW and I purchase one Disney ornament every year. Somehow, our Disney ornaments have managed to take over half our Christmas Tree. I wonder how that happened.:)

I feel blessed my DW and I have been fortunate enough to have that happen. We're looking forward to our Disney ornaments taking over the second half.

I have a lot of the same ornaments as everyone else. Between the Hallmark store and Grolier, I shudder to think of the amount of money that's hanging on my tree right now.......and I'm going shopping and back to the Hallmark store tomorrow! And, is anyone else as OCD as me in that matching ornaments have to be hung together, MIckey with Minnie, Woody with Buzz, Chip with Dale??!!??

My husband accidently hit one and it fell off the tree the other day... sob, but our tree is totally Disney!! Some of the oldest ornaments go back to 1978 I believe.

@Tiggerish I LOVE your decorations for each of the countries in WS, what a GREAT idea! I may have to start doing that, this way I could either incorporate them into my non-disney tree (all crystal/gold ornaments) or I can start on a 3rd tree :D

Believe it or not, I found most of those ornaments at Kohl's.

I'm sure you could find "landmark" ornaments to suit your crystal/gold tree (sounds beautiful!), maybe in spun glass or something like that.

Or, by all means, start a third tree--I have five of them! :p The regular tree, the Disney tree, the "fancy"/Boardwalk tree, the Barbie tree, and the Geek tree where I make my hubby put all of his star wars/star trek/comic book ornaments (I'm thinking about renaming that one the "big bang tree")

GREAT thread gang....some nice photos here!
Yeah,i will confess...i can relate: My tree is also 90% Disney related.
Back in the 80s i started getting into collecting the Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. I will say that most of my Disney-related ornaments are from that collection. Every year they used to release a set of 3 or 4 ornaments related to whatever the latest new Disney Animated film was. I would always be sure to get these pieces, figuring they would have future appeal having been issued the same year as the film. Others i have collected just because a like the sculpting/designwork. For years now my annual post-X-mas tradition is the hit the local Hallmark shop and buy a lot of ornaments half off. I would say most of my collection has grown considerably post-Xmas then at any other time.
As much as i dig Disney ornaments, i have never purchased one at a Park, or DTD. Sure i have looked...but to date nothing has really appealed to me.

Some of my favourite Disney Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments over the years -

Esmerelda and Djali ( Hunchback release year)

The Lion King * Magic* lighted ornament ( 1994 lighted background changes from yellow to red, creating the effect of a rising and setting sun)

Winnie the Pooh *Magic* motion ornament ( 1994 electric powered tree ornament, with all the characters parading around Pooh )

Pocahontas in her canoe, with Flit ( year of films release )

Mickey and Minnie iceskating, with Mickey being helped up by Minnie.

Some non-Hallmark related ornaments that are faves :

A series of late 80s lucite ornaments sold at WDW and through the then-Park Catalog ( the very best being Santa Figment holding a green glittery gift)

Various self-made ornaments made out of Applause PVC figurines ( Beast, Ariel )

I will try to get some photos!!

This is the "fun tree" in our family room. We also have a fancy-pants one in our living room that my girlfriend insisted on - there are no character/fun ornaments of any kind on that one. :p

(that's the WDW Railroad running around the bottom!)

Tink got to be the topper this year. I wanted to get the Mickey/Minnie one they're selling at the Disney Store right now, but it's been sold out for a while - so on Black Friday weekend I snagged the Tink topper instead at 40% off. Her wings change colors, so it's fun!

There's a bunch of plain ornaments and fun Disney ones on this tree. First off, here's two from a set of various character balls that I picked up at a Disney Store a couple years ago:

My mom got my girlfriend and I these personalized ear hat ornaments last year (though we can't find hers for some reason!):

I picked up the park icons set when we were at WDW for Thanksgiving last year. That included the four park icons, plus this Sorcerer Mickey:

There's SSE in the upper corner of this picture, and a white glove hot air balloon ornament I picked up at the Disney Store this year:

Also from the Disney Store is this fun one with Donald and the boys:

I love this DLR one. Gotta get the Red Car Trolley ornament at DL this weekend!

And last but not least - Sleeping Beauty Castle!

Our Disney tree started out as my "Disney princess" tree, and gradually expanded to include any Disney characters.

@HouCuseChickie, I see you collect Lenox! Is your entire tree done in Lenox, or cream/gold?

@NemoRocks, your tree is beautiful, I love all those ornaments you featured in your post!! I have a similar Tink treetopper--she has fiber-optic color changing wings, but she's wearing her Santa Tink outfit. I have a second Tink treetopper, too, she's wearing her usual green outfit. I also have a Cinderella tree topper, and a Mickey/Minnie one that I bought after Christmas last year at disneystore.com. We try to rotate which one gets used each year.

Yes, I LOVE Lenox! I am so silly- I put together a Flickr set last year with all of them (at the time) and a few other faves.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/houcusechickie/sets/72157626654838239/with/5746511325/

I am adding 6 more Lenox this year, but I had the unthinkable happen last year...my tree fell. Thankfully, only 3 total losses...one of which has already been replaced.

I can't do all Lenox because they are too heavy, so I balance them out with some colorful glass ornaments. I at first started adding in Christopher Radko, but since he reinforces his ornaments with sterling (also quite heavy)- I found that inexpensive glass ornaments are the way to go. It actually looks kind of neat seeing the vibrant colors paired with all of the ivory and gold.

This is the only Disney Lenox I'm adding this year...

While I do not have a 100% Disney tree, I do have a few Disney ornaments. I can't show you all of them since I just ordered 3 new ones and they have yet to arrive. But...here's what I have right now...

They can be, but I rarely pay full price. I don't know if you've ever been into Marshalls or TJ Maxx when you've been visiting over here, but they get in some nice ornaments and holiday decor in about October each year. Avg price for the Lenox ornaments with them is in the $9.99-18.99 range (when retail is usually $19.99-49.99). That Mickey/Dumbo one was the biggest deal of all. MSRP was either $39.99 or $49.99... I found it MIB for $4.95! I also buy quite a few on ebay so I can get some of the cool discontinued ones.

This is the ugliest Christmas decoration, at least that's what I think it is, ever made.
I keep it only because it is so hideous and because it was a Christmas gift.
The bad attempt at a Mickey head is the clue. I'm not making this up.

Checked out the flickr stream--what a collection!! You realize now, you're going to have to share a photo of whole tree once it's decorated, right?? ;)

Oh, and I am totally in awe of your bargain shopping to assemble your collection!! Way to go...:)

You must be extremely fond of the person who gave that to you. :)
