Should there be more walk-through-attractions?

Should there be more walk-through-attractions? HM was originally planned as a walkthrough and although I love the HM and it's one of my favorite rides I find the idea of a haunted house where you have to WALK through even more chilling because walking feels even more real than going by omnimover or boat, keeps you more in touch with the imagineered environment. The PotC were also planned as a walk-through attraction before they became a boat ride. Walk-throughs are very rare in the parks and also not exactly the superheadliners among the attractions (SFTH e.g.) but I believe with the right theming and imagineering they could be a nice addition to the rides and shows.
At least a mixture of ride and walk-through could be an interesting design approach. Imagine a haunted house where you have to walk at least 30 or 40% of the attraction before you board some ride vehicle?
The next-gen queues are already a step towards this development and the two wildlife trails in DAKs Africa and Asia.
I will place my idea for a pure walk-trough attraction and a mixture of walk and ride in the imagineer section as soon as possible and would like to know how you think about the topic.

Walk-through attractions like Tarzan's Treehouse and One Man's Dream? If so then I would vote yes. Though I think each park has atleast one. Though maybe what I'm considering an "attraction" (such as displays in the World Showcase) most people would just consider exhibits. I would love for a castle walkthrough like over in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris though!

NO.....we do enought walking as it is and most love the time to rest. After staning in line for POTC I dont want to have to walk thru also...yes the line would not be as long if no boats to load and unload but still the time to sit and ride is a great break.

Yeah walkthroughs would be fun and I think are needed. But I think it depends on the theme in order if its a success or not. I really love the fact that at AK it has two walkthrough attractions that you necessarily don't need to rush through. I could stand for hours watching the Animals.

I think a walk thru is great, but being with all the people that come on a daily basis you got to have rides to push the guest through. Now i'm not saying all attractions would jam up but some would. I work for a Haunted House here in New Orleans and it gets wild at times with guest backing up.

I don't think I would be able to go on HM if it was a walk through. I just feel very vulnerable without the omnimover. I hate walk through haunted houses.

The Nautilus in DLP was wonderful. It was a walk through, but well themed. I really liked at the atmosphere, the hidden gems and being underwater.

I enjoy the variety of things to look at in the Queues on the way into the rides. I am always finding new things that I missed before. I spend a lot of time in One Man's Dream, so yeah, I guess I'd enjoy having a few more walkthrough attractions.

I think if HM was a walk through it'd be just another haunted mansion. Obviously, it'd be much better and less scary because it's Disney, but I can go to any other haunted mansion in the country during the month of October and walk through it. Besides, I like sitting down for a few minutes inside while on a ride after walking here and there for ten hours.

I don't think they need to do attractions along the lines of HM as walkthroughs, but it would be nice if Epcot had more walkthrough exhibits like the Living Seas. Hollywood Studios could have more attractions like Narnia but it's pretty obvious Disney won't make the effort to keep them current, but they could easily and rather inexpensivly have movie sets on display. I like the memorabilia in the gift shop at the end of Backlot Tour, they could make a whole attraction out of movie memorabilia.

Yes...depending on it's "cool" factor. I love how you can walk into the castle at DL. You can't do that with Cinderella castle but you could place a beautifully themed building in the new fantasyland...Flynn's house or something since Rapunzels tower wouldn't look right being so tall and all...

I really liked the concept of Mickey and Minnie's houses and I think they could do something similar with other characters. I think attractions like that can be good ways to eat up the crowds during busy times.

Yes!

Gimme more walkthroughs, more to explore! More such as the Treehouse, TSI, parts of Toontown. And elements of Paris, such as the fort entrance to Frontierland, their museum-like exhibits on Main street and elsewhere and their Adventureland exploration area.

Agreed!

I think that there is a difference in what kinds of attractions make good walk throughs vs. rides. Attractions with lots of areas to explore at different speeds as well as move forwards and backwards seem like good candidates for walk thoughs. For example, the Living Seas or the animal areas at AK are great for walk thoroughs. There, based on personal interest, you'll find places where want to spend lots of time vs. others where you want to move quickly.

Some attractions have more of a story and therefore a certain pace. In those, I'd think you'd want to keep people moving along just for pacing purposes.

As part of that pacing, you can create a more intimate experience too. In a ride, you can guarantee that there will be nothing between a guest and some scene. In a walk through, you always will have the crowd effect - think about how many people congregate around a popular animal at a zoo.

Specifically, for HM, I believe you'd want to think about which approach is better. For me, I think that HM has a definite story, so I'd want a ride.
