Should I tell him???

OK - I'm having second thoughts and need your help...

Really long story made short..

Hubby and I go to WDW every 2 years:sohappy: . Last year, after 9/11, I was scared to fly and insisted we skip this coming year :( . (Hubby is really really dissapointed but is good enough to humor me.)

Since then, I have calmed down and am OK with flying but already sold hubby on "boring" driving vacation to Williamsburg VA.

Hubby puts up w/ a lot of stuff with my family, including my aunt who lives with us so wanted to do something nice for him. Booked the land/sea trip instead of the Williamsburg trip.:sohappy:

Decided to not tell hubby until the day we leave, kind of as a "Thanks for being wonderful" surprise. (He already scheduled vacation time w/ work so this is not a problem. I can pack his clothes, papers, etc. for him, so that also should not be a problem.) My plan is to have a limo pick us up in the morning (instead of the rental car he thinks we are taking to VA) and take us to the airport and spring it on him then.

So, my question is... Should I continue with my plan to not tell him until the day we leave or should I tell him in advance so that he can be excited about it before hand? I've been planning this, and keeping it a secret for 7 months now, and it's now only a few weeks away.

What would you do?

I would definately surprise him! But with a twist-I would drop hints every week until you go away. I do that every year for my DH's birthday. Even if it is something small, I send him or buy him a card with a hint in it. That way he has the element of surprise but yet has the anticipation built up for it!

Also, how does he take surprises? I know I am a PITA to be aorund when I get a hint of something being planned for me so my above suggestion would never work on me-LOL.

Good luck and have a lot of fun!

Oh definately surprise him!!! The biggest thing I've ever been able to afford to surprise DH with was a CD player for his truck (installed, of course! :D ) and he was thrilled :)

As for me, if anyone ever surprised me with a trip to WDW I don't even know WHAT I'd do! I'd be so happy I'd probably pass out! :sohappy:

just need a place to vent...

the stress is beginning to get to me....

it seems the closer we get to our travel date, the harder this is for me to keep it to myself... i keep catching myself in near slips....

and last night i had all these nightmares about the trip and things that could go wrong... first i forgot our birth certificates for the cruiseline... then i had the wrong person with me (dad? what are you doing here? where's dave?)... then we couldn't find the park or the resort...

these next 2 weeks are going to make me crazy!!! i hope i can handle the pressure!!!

Hold on to your resolve and DON'T tell him! I liked the idea someone suggested about taking his picture after he realizes where you're really headed, and posting it here (if he doesn't mind, of course!) I would love to be able to surprise my husband with something he'd truly love, but he's tough to surprise.

shouldn't be too hard to keep him close on our departure date... our flight is at 9 am which means we will have to leave our house by 6:30 am... chances of getting him up before 6:15 will be slim!!!

and as for sharing the photo.. i have every intention of getting that shot and sharing it here with everyone... my biggest concern in that area is how can i manage a video camera and a digital camera at the same time cuz i want both shots!!! my dad was supposed to come over and help with that but since it will be so early in the am that isn't likely to happen.. oh well.. i'm sure which ever i get will be worth it..

i can't wait to see his face!!!!!

Congratulate me! It looks like I have managed to pull it off...

Wanted to give my last update before we leave since hubby will pretty much be by my side once he gets home tonight until we leave on Sunday...

He still doesn't know and I finally figured out the last detail of how I will tell him. I have created an award certificate that basically says he has been selected as this years Husband of the Year, lists the wonderful things that he does, and then tells all about the trip... I even added a fine print disclaimer at the bottom that says he is obligated to forgive and forget all lies involved in planning this for him!!

I can't wait...

I will provide a trip report (and hopefully pictures of his shocked look) when we get back next week!

Wish me luck!!!

We're Back!!!!

OK everyone - we are back!

Sorry it has taken me so long to provide an update. I actually tried to just after returning, but for some reason my post didn't post... just my luck...

Anyway - I DID IT!!! I managed to pull off the biggest surprise of my life! Hubby didn't have a clue that we weren't going to VA. I finally broke down and told him about 15 minutes before we were supposed to get picked up to go to the airport...

At first he didn't get it...
Then he thought it was a joke...
Then he thought I had lost my mind...
Then he worried about where the money came from!!!
Then he just went into a state of shock...

He pretty much stayed in shock for the whole first 24 hours of the trip.. The next morning he woke up, looked around the hotel and started smiling... I asked him what he was doing and he just sat there with a dumb smile on his face and said "I can't believe it! We're really here, aren't we? We're actually in Disney? I thought for sure I would wake up, it would be 5 AM and we would be driving to VA! I can't believe this!"

All in all we had an incredible time. He said it was the best vacation of his life and of course I am the coolest wife ever!!!

I'll be posting a complete (long and detailed) trip report, with photos shortly....

Thanks for all your support and encouragement while I was in the planning phase... It was stressful but it definitely paid off!
